I'm a native English speaker, and although I'm not going to assume everyone on ck is, I'm sure it's the majority. But who knows other languages? If English isn't your first, what is? What other languages do you know outside of your native one, and what's your level of proficiency?
I took about three years of Spanish and lost most of it, so I'm doing Duolingo to recover some. I'm also kinda looking at Japanese and Korean but not only do I suck at them, but I doubt Duolingo is the best resource for either of them. I definitely need to find more native speakers of the languages I want to learn to practice with, but I'm afraid of embarrassing myself in front of them :')
What about you all?
edit, bonus question! What are people's favorite language-learning resources? For people who are proficient in more than one language, what method/tactic best helped you?

My native language is spanish, I learned english while in highschool and lately I was also learning japanese in Duolingo, it helped a bit when I went to Japan, but now I see a lot of people recommending renshuu instead.
About wanting to practice, I feel you, but even in my native language I'm socially awkward so I feel like I'd also be embarassed when talking in a different language than my own

My native language is Portuguese! I can also speak a wee bit of Spanish due to boredom during prep school
I actually learned English on my own with cartoons and anime, so grammar is a huge mystery to me (not surprisingly, Portuguese grammar is also a mystery to me, even tough I've been forced to study it since childhood).
I've been slowly trying to teach myself Japanese for a while now whenever I have some free time, but it's hard to be consistent with it lol

Does sign language count? It was an option for me to take 2 years when I was doing college courses when I was in high school and it counted as a foreign language on my college application. I had always been interested in it, but I do wish sometimes that I had taken a spoken language instead. I often tell myself I'm going to put the work in to learn Russian or German but then I never take the first step, lol

My native is Finnish, I learned English first through grade and high school, then through TV and fanfiction,,
My father's native language is Swedish, I've done a few courses of Russian, a single course of Finnish Sign Language, and tried to learn French through Duolingo for a few years. I'm not really anywhere near fluent in any of those, tho.
I'm interested in linguistics, actually. Unfortunately, I've yet to properly study it. :/

I've always wanted to learn ASL! I learned fingerspelling and picked up bits and pieces learning to sign along with songs and stuff as a kid, but that's about it. In my school growing up we were only given ASL lessons if somebody in our grade used an interpreter.

I took French in school from kindergarten through the first year of my undergrad and I baaaarely speak it. I can read it okay, but super slowly, and I can understand verbally when someone's speaking like slowly and clearly (which lbr no one fluent ever is). Je peux parler et écrire un peu, mais mas grammaire et mas vocabulaire sont tres tres mal, et mon prononciation n'est pas bon soit. Ontario is useless ;-;
I grew up in a city that's officially bilingual too, so all the signs and bus stop announcement etc are in both languages. Even still I feel weird saying "I speak French" like at all. I think if I spent time somewhere francophone I have enough of a foundation that I'd learn it pretty quickly, but it'd be such a struggle at first
