Palworld - Early Access

Has anyone else been following this game? It's basically everything Pokemon fans want from Gamefreak + guns. I remember a kickstarter for it years ago, but it seems like it's going into early access soon.

The release date is January 19th, 2024 and the early access is $30 on Steam. I'll try to add review videos once they come out.

Is anyone going to participate? I'm going to wait until more reviews come in, and if they're good, I hope it comes to the switch haha.

I respectfully implore that anyone who put down money for this game or who is playing it through the gamepass please issue a refund and cease playing it if they at all care about artistic integrity, especially as more issues with AI, plagiarism and general theft continue to crop up and get worse and worse. Yes, I understand, this is "just" Nintendo and Gamefreak being stolen from and some people may find it funny, but if they get away with it on that level, there is absolutely nothing that will stop them from doing it to smaller or independent creators.

If you simply must play the funny Pokémon with guns simulator ft. slavery despite the above (and many more examples circulating on Twitter), then at the very least find another method of doing so that does not support the developer in any way. No, gamepass is not good enough.

This actually looks really promising, it's something I know my oldest son will definitely get into. He's a massive Pokemon fan and this looks very similar in a few ways. Thanks for the heads up! Hopefully the early access launch goes well and it continues to thrive.

I was a bit curious over this, but after learning the creator is an NFT bro, into crypto and uses AI in another project, it's made me incredibly wary.

The "Palworldex" that was launched is very good! The inspirations in Pokemon were very well used.

Oh wow, I didn't eve know that about the creator. I'll keep an eye on it still, but I'm definitely waiting for reviews before paying $30 for the OA.

I've been seeing posts on twitter with mons from this game side by side to pokemon. They do look eerily similar. I don't really mind that much I was going to pirate this game when it came out anyway to see if it's any good lol. Unless it's ftp? idk much about it.

Yeah, I've see a Palmon that looks exactly like Lucario haha, some of them are really obvious. The articles I've seen said it'll cost $30 on Steam, but I'm not sure if it'll be on Gamepass or not? I don't have an Xbox so I can't check.
