my department at work has a thing about using the phrase "circle the wagons" as often as they can possibly jam it into conversation. It didn't use to bother me because it makes me think of Oregon Trail which is great, but now it bothers me very much because we're never doing anything as fun as Oregon Trail when it gets said

I try not to scoff at generational slang (we used to say "duh" all the time, who are we to judge) but "cap" "no cap" and "riz" really annoy me

on idioms that I appreciate, my dad uses the phrase "never get into a stink fight with a skunk" which is real east Texas backwoods and I love it

Randy Jackson from American Idol used to say this. That's where it came from.

i hope i dont come off as that guy but just a gentle note that a lot of whats considered 'gen z slang' is actually misused aave.
but to keep on track "duh" will always be more rude than saying "no shit" and im not even sure why

I'm not sure if this counts, but "chip off the old block" after I do something that apparently resembles something like how my parents are?
Like nah I'm an individual person, please don't refer to me as I'm just like them

Omg I missed so many posts on this thread.

This has been answered already but yes when Randy is rejecting someone on American idle he would say this... iconic x)

I think its fun when people use malaphors which is mixing two idioms together

"We'll cross that bridge when we lead the horse to it"

Not sure if you knew this, but its a poem by Edna Clyne-Rekhy
