Happy New Year! - A Gentle Reminder

Happy New Year Everyone!

I'm sure many people have big plans tonight, whether its going out to the city to watch the ball drop, going to a party, or staying at home with a loved one (yes, pets count).


I wanted to give a gentle remind to be careful with alcohol, especially (you need an account to see links). When driving home, or going for an evening walk, be cautious with others on the road. If you are drinking, please make sure that you have a plan to get home safely, whether its an uber, a ride share program, or a designated driver.

If you stay the night, please know that alcohol doesn't leave your system quickly. One standard drink is (you need an account to see links) (i.e, a 12oz can of beer, a small glass of wine) and leaves your body at a rate of (you need an account to see links). If you consume greater than 1 drink per hour, the alcohol will build up in your bloodstream (which is what makes you drunk). The only way to get rid of alcohol out of your system is time, so if you stay up late drinking, you will likely still be over the legal limit of driving in the morning.

I myself am not much of a drinker. I'm a very big lightweight lol but I'm staying home with family tonight. Mom is still getting over her sickness after Christmas and we're just too tired + cold to do anything outside like we used to.

I plan to have myself a small Seagrams drink (Still debating on this!) but I'll be on the computer drinking playing neopets or playing some videos games for the remainder of the night until the ball drops!

Remember people if you are going to drink - please have a family member/friend pick you up who hasn't been drinking to drive you home OR call a uber! Seriously! People act stupid when drinking and driving and I'd hate for anyone here to be given the news you are no longer with us!

I actually found out that I'm allergic to alcohol(or something like that??)
On my honeymoon this resteraunt had a buy one/get one drink deal. I had one daquiri and i threw up in the napkin at the table. I also thought my heart rate was slower and the room was spinning XD
I likely could have died if i drank the second one

Thanks for the reminder & facts!! I don't drink but have friends who are quite heavy drinkers and I feel like their mom constantly nagging them to be safe especially on NYE :p but hopefully everyone has a safe and fun NYE! 💙

Please keep everyone else safe tonight by planning rides home it will also make the night easier for our first responder family members!
