My go-to gift is a Doordash or UberEats gift card! I just got my brother one.
Food delivery is always useful but everyone hates paying for it themselves, which is why it's such a good gift. Perfect if they're a busy person.
Unrelated but I was reminded of something funny I saw

I'll be honest. If it's for someone who I'm not like, super close with. I always have candles on hand. So I'll just pop a few of those in a cute tote bag and go.
I'm not one to wait until the last minute with gifts. I'll be out and about and see something that reminds me of "X", and I'll pick it up. That way I have a stock pile of shit for birthdays/christmas'.
Thank you Hellraid <3

I agree with the previously mentioned activities/experiences. I really enjoy seeing the pictures they share of them smiling and having a good time. Last year, I was told my mom was getting a pasta press (and we never made homemade pasta before), so I bought her and my stepfather a reservation to a past-making class and some filler goodies for the backet like their favorite sweets and savory things. My mom was really excited to show me how to make pasta and I don't think I we can go back to store bought. One of my favorites was someone setup a day to walk shelter pets and they put a donation in with my name. I still volunteer at that shelter.

For me, my go-to is usually something food or drink related.
It's a bit of a running gag for me to find weird or not locally found flavors for snacks and the like.
Japanese Kit-Kat is a good fallback for me that doesn't disappoint.
Although, probably the one that was most appreciated was a simple recommendation for a hole-in-the-wall restaurant that served cuisine from a friend's home country.
It was a bit out of his way, but he was glad to be able to introduce his wife to some of his food since he's a terrible cook (lol).
I'm generally bad at picking out gifts in general though, so I've been going heavy on delivery gift cards and the like most of the time as of late.

My hubbyis this person. But as you are gifting your brother, I would say you're on the right track to gift things that would be funny.
