"How to Earn NP the Easy Way" question

Hi guys!
I randomly got a copy of "How to Earn NP the Easy Way" (it literally appeared in my inventory today, idk if its Halloween related or something) and saw the insane high prices it goes for (they've dropped a lot in the last few days it seems tho), but I can't seem to figure out why this item is worth so much. Besides getting a random copy, I also just got one from the weekly quests so now I'm sitting here with two copies of this book and no clue what to do with it
Is there anyone that could elaborate? Usually I can find a reason for the prices (like the Bag of Peanuts being used for an avatar), but not with this one (might also be harder to look for due to the title)

It was originally given out as a prize in a halloween goodie bag back in 2010 - so over the years fewer and fewer copies remained and it was a pretty rare item. Unfortunately it was given away in the prize pool for this most recent feature and the price dropped so drastically that now it's just more junk

Thanks for explaining! Seems like that new feature is doing more harm than good for the Neopets economy...

Oh I absolutely agree! Gonna be scrambling now to try and sell things onsite to just stack the bank account with pure - the only safe investment lol

I understand completely! Better to sell things now that they're still worth something before they drop down drastically because everyone has them.
I wonder why TNT thought this was a good idea to begin with...

Having too many items be exclusive to retirement / events / codes is not exactly great for any game economy, not if those items hold a perpetual relevance which in any books case is going to be the trophy for reading and the reward of individual collection I guess. I have a strong feeling a a small series of incredibly expensive NP only cosmetics that have been released in a long time will be seeing re-releases too.

It's also just more effective to plan something like this if you reuse old prize pools, let's be honest.

I believe its also a booktastic book as well, they shot up in price when that happened
