Cupcake says she's met ONE russian, Ray has met some.. Okay.. You've never lived in the same country with them for 21 years, have you? Or 200 years? My opinions are not based on one time experiences. I have been to Russia, I was very welcomed and they are very friendly people. Everyone who I know has been to Russia has said so. BUT the russians living in Estonia are something else. We have old hags who have lived here for over 50 years and still don't know a god damn word of Estonian. But that doesn't stop them from demanding and whining. We still have schools where everything is taught in Russian and when we try to put in little Estonian, it's somehow against their rights. They don't want to be Estonians and we don't want them here. If Russia was to open up the border and call every russian back to Russia, they wouldn't go, because life is shittier there. But to somehow contribute to our country? Only thing they are "good" for is keeping the crime up.

If you have met one or two russians, please.. I know people from all kinds of nations that aren't the stereotypical type.

Yes, there is. They are perspectives, lenses through which you can choose to see people: when you start looking for something in somebody, eventually you are going to find it.

Every stereotyped example you use; loudness, being bad at dancing, being good at science, all of these could easily be attributed to any race, or to the populace of any country, with simply a bit of imagination. There are better uses for imagination, however. One use I'd suggest is putting it towards reserving judgement on people who you really don't know, apart from your vague misconceptions.

It's late and I'm tired, but just realised: I actually didn't badmouth the entire race in my first post, just the russians living in my dorm and not giving a fck about others. You brought in the WHOLE race thing and I got carried away in my pissedoff'dness.

It was the second and third post of the thread which really raised the alarm, for me.

But sure, blame me for your prejudice. Of course, it's not your fault: you've been told to think this way, almost forced into it by your circumstances, maybe. I'm just saying there are better ways of thinking about these problems, and most of them revolve around the acquisition of empathy and the shedding of anthropocentricity.

    #1) I wasn't talking directly to you.
#2) It's called immigration. I know people. I also travel often.
#3) Inq said one thing and you started going on a stereotype rampage. This means that our conversation doesn't have to be on just your first post.

I've been told to think this way? Are you serious? If someone kills your relatives, sends them thousands of kilometers away and everything else they did to our nation years ago, you wouldn't be prejudice? I can't stress this enough, if you haven't lived with them, you can't speak about it. Had my grandfather not stood up against them in the 40's, he might have lived longer. But he was sent to work in a mine, which messed up his lungs and he was little over 40 when he died. Why was he caught and accused? Because his neighbor was a snitch. There is a reason Estonians are called cold, we can't trust anyone. Don't you dare say I'm prejudice against someone without a reason.

As for MY second post, I pointed out the numbers in which those two mentioned types (loud, greedy) exist. The more there are of them, the bigger the chances of encountering loud and greedy people.
