Account Taken

Hey there guys -

I wasn�t planning on posting anything about this but a user here suggested I go ahead and post anyway.

I had an account taken recently - it had a female name in the username and contained a Sticky Snowflake Stamp and a few other items. I can give more details about this.

So if anyone happened to stumble upon it and take it - it�d be nice to have back!

A few questions.

1. How often did you use said account?

2. Did the account look like a shell, a main or somewhere in between?

3. Was it originally yours or someone else's?

4. Did you often buy a commonly used item ie: codestones? I can't say for certain but with friends getting accounts stolen lately, I think cookie grabbers might becoming more common again.

5. Do you own both the email used to create the account and its current one?

6. Did you have anything that would make you a target? Like were you showing off the stamp and other valuable items in trades/gallery/auctions?

7. Are you taking precautions on other accounts you have to minimize the risk it happens in the future? If so what are some precautions?

Feel free to skip any of these questions, I'm just thinking we may be able to help you more if we knew more about it without giving us information that would leak your account name.

You should be changing your account info often to avoid this from happening. Especially if it's been years since the last change...

I accept responsibility for the loss - I have 30 or 40 accounts and didn’t change the info just thought I did.

I know how it was taken - the method, how they found it, just thought i would post. I can list exact items and account info if it would help but I doubt too many people recently stumbled onto a SSS

Unfortunately, and I wish every Neopets player can read this,... you should have changed your Neopets AND e-mail PW's a long time ago even if you stopped playing Neopets.
