    Neopets has a higher...

Neopets has a higher amount of female players than most other online games such as WoW and RuneScape (from my experiance)

Why do you think this is? Does it support that women are more nurturing and therefore this type of online game appeals to them more?

    What is your opinion

I think of because how user friendly the site is, not to mention the pets and the customization. It's more about interacting and engaging together rather than alone.

Not surprising, given the 'cute' origins of pet sites.

Perhaps it's the cute appeal the pets have. Or maybe boys aren't really into the nurturing virtual pets thing.

When I was a kid and neopets was at it's highest point, it was very much considered a girl's game in my school, and with everyone I knew personally.

I don't think necessarily Neo panders to females, but I stay mainly for the customization/account improvement! I think there is a lot more casual female gamers, and Neopets doesn't really require a huge time investment or $. You can play passively and still enjoy.

I think its because females are on average more creative and males are more about action and problem solving.

I'd say it's definitely the creativity part.
A lot of petsites, "cute" or not, tend to have a pretty heavily-female fanbase from what I've seen-- Subeta and Flight Rising both seem to be more heavily populated by female and nonbinary players. Artistic platforms and platforms for creativity tend to attract a more female-heavy audience.

So it might just be an inherent petsite thing.
I wouldn't say it's about nurturing, because I don't really care about the "taking care of" part all that much-- I've attached artistic or other inherent meanings to my pixel pets, therefore they're valuable.

Besides, I know a lot of women who aren't "traditionally nurturing".
It seems odd to generalize based on gender roles compared to simply looking at the traits of something and then the sort of crowd it attracts.

Most male players are into games that channel aggressiveness, like LoL, WoW, DotA 2, CS:GO, etc., and they sink hours and hours into these games, where your variety of skills are all tested and you "git gud" at the game. With Neopets, there's not much to really git gud at. A lot of Neopets is creativity. The passiveness of the game also gives incentive to players who aren't really into "gaming" per se, like a lot of female players.
