I’d say maybe a movie theatre! That was my third job and I liked it a lot. Free movies and popcorn we used to take bags home every night and sometimes get the pizza and pretzel bites too. Try and stay away from fast food. I worked at Little Caesar’s as my first job and quit.
My first job was Taco Bell which actually ended up being pretty fun and since I wasn't making very much money, the free food was a definite perk.
I will say with the animal experience you have I would definitely recommend trying to get into an animal hospital as a kennel assistant. I'm actually a vet tech now and that's how I started in the animal field. The hours and pay are usually better than food service or retail jobs.
Did my first job while waiting for the college term to start as a Sales Assistant in a Baby Clothing shop.
Wasnt that hard of a job, except getting bored easily when there are no customers around.
No smartphones yet during that time, so basically, we just sit and do nothing.
EDIT: But my best job is as a software developer which allows me to travel to the States and to gather requirement directly. Learnt a lot from that job and gain lots of cultural exposure.
Personally, I think everyone should have to work in food service at least once in their lives. It really gives you perspective and helps you appreciate people behind the counter.
