Texas Shooting: Children Among The Dead

Again, not even 2.5 months in (35 days to be exact), we have another mass shooting behind the 1st largest shooting in the US.

(you need an account to see links)

SUTHERLAND SPRINGS, Tex. — A gunman clad in all black, with a ballistic vest strapped to his chest and a military-style rifle in his hands, opened fire on parishioners at a Sunday service at a small Baptist church in rural Texas, killing at least 26 people and turning this tiny town east of San Antonio into the scene of the country’s newest mass horror.

The gunman was identified as Devin Patrick Kelley, 26, according to two law enforcement officials who spoke on the condition of anonymity because the investigation is continuing. Mr. Kelley, who lived in New Braunfels, Tex., and had served in the Air Force at a base in New Mexico, died shortly after the attack.
"The victims ranged in age from 5 to 72, and among the dead were several children, a pregnant woman and the pastor’s 14-year-old daughter. "

This is a horrible act of Domestic Terrorism and when will enough be enough and that we will take a stand to those that have lost their lives to gun violence?

    Time to Act now!!!

(you need an account to see links)

To anyone saying “thoughts and prayers” to the victims...they were in CHURCH.

    They don’t need more prayers.

    They need gun control.

Hope everyone here is safe and was not affected by this horrible tragedy.

Its a tragedy really but something to remember is that mass shooting deaths are just a drop in the bucket when it comes to gun related deaths. Many are suicide, homicide or an accident. Of these large pieces of the pie the most straight forward to tackle is homicide. Homicide rates are much higher in poorer areas, we should be doing something to encourage businesses and develop better programs and transportation for them. Businesses increase the supply of available jobs, and better transportation means they have a larger area of opportunity. Having more gun control just seems to decrease gun related suicides, but when people get to that point they'll use or attempt other methods.

I have no words. Less than two months, goddamn.
I'm sick of the lack of gun control and education in this hellish country.

If people looked to the countries that have minimal gun-related deaths, then they could have fantastic examples of gun control that works and keeps people safe. But apparently having access to firearms is more important than people's lives? The only reason I can imagine firearms ever being useful would be their application in hunting-- which is already pretty regulated anyways, and could afford to have even more regulation on its firearms if it means this happening less.
(And for all the "but home defense" people.. there's other ways to protect your living space than with guns, and if it means mass shootings won't happen, then deal with it.)

I'm really, really tired of this shit. It shouldn't take tons of people dying for changes to be made.

Either way, it's gun control across the board. Whether it's domestic violence, terrorism, suicide, homicide, etc.

Like @(you need an account to see links) said, if we were more like Australia we'd have less and less deaths due to firearms. Since the ban of automatic weapons & guns in Australia, there have been a very minor amount of instances of gun related violence.

Trump wants to arm our police force with more guns and less regulations on weaponry that they use.

Let's just hope Washington will do something about it instead of sitting on their asses and donating more money to the NRA and having them pay the politicians to shut up and side with the NRA.

People will always find a way to hurt others. Here we don't have guns but our knife crime rate is higher and people are being driven into with vans and lorries and blown up at concerts. I don't know what the solution is.

I don't understand or know how an end will be put to all of this. Strictwe gun control is meaningless because the people who want to do something like this will find the means whether laws are there, are not there, are strict or loose. We should not have to live in fear day to day and something needspecial to be done, whatever it may be. Two in 35 days is ridiculous and my heart aches for those who have been effected by this.

Apparently 4% of the population of this city was wiped out

Just horrible. 26 people was 4% of a population....geeeze. Also, one family had 8 members killed from 3 different generations. That's rough. (the pregnant woman was also apart of the family)
