So.... apparently Paypal has some great changes in store! (Not at all, RIP Paypal)

**THIS IS ONLY FOR FRIENDS AND FAMILY. AS OF RIGHT NOW, GOODS+SERVICES HAS A NORMAL FEE**

So heres the cliff-notes version of the story. Some of you might know I make sort of "tabs" because I was always complaining about my fees slowly going up and it costing to much to send smaller amounts ( @(you need an account to see links) , @(you need an account to see links) @(you need an account to see links) @(you need an account to see links) , etc). The other day I tried sending $2 USD to someone and it charged me $2.50 USD to send $2 USD. I asked them to request payment, and it worked with a lower fee. Today I had someone send payment and they mentioned I was automatically made to pay the fee of $2.50. I called Paypal and the agent was like super awesome but she had no idea why. She put me on hold and get this........

"Starting October 10th 2017, Canada will be charged a flat rate of $2.50 for sending any amount of payment to USA/Europe. It will be $4.99 to send to other countries. USA will have this implemented on November 1st 2017, Europe on December 1st, and the rest on January 1st 2018. Depending on your paypal account/status, these changes have been already made for you."

This is literally eliminating paypal was being useful in any sort of lower end sales right now. I'm still playing around with it but it seems to be a pain right now.

If anyone can find more information on this, please share.

^found the canadian agreement. Apparently the others are coming soon.

--EDIT: Requesting money results in the same thing for the one paying...

KEEP AN EYE ON YOUR FEES. Make sure the one sending is paying them.

That sucks... will this also affect when buying things using paypal? Or are the fees only for sending or getting money from person to person?

Within the same country, I don't think theres a fee. I'm not sure it comes to sending to like "businesses" or ebay but from person to person. This is implemented.

Making it easier and easier to advocate crypto currency now a days. PayPal is just being greedy. They make a shit load of money and there’s no need for this increase. The only reason they are doing this is because they are the main payment processor for many people - and they know they can get away with it. I’m sure they will face some backlash form this.

Just tested with @(you need an account to see links)

It's only manual payment where you sign in to choose to send money to someone.
Payment gateways on websites/Paypal buy buttons don't have additional fees like mentioned above.

Woohoo! We figured out its only for friends+family that this is happening right now.

Goods and services payments have the normal fee.

It's probably an encouragement to reduce "black" trades where people are gifting people money for products/services and PayPal weren't getting "adequate fees" on it and of course no "buyer protection". They're basically encouraging you to have a website with PayPal processing button instead....
