I think there are some glitches still - I read something about you need to first adopt a pet from the pound and then you can transfer it for a pet on your side. Not sure if it works though, haven't tried to get another pet yet.

Yeah I think it's just a glitch for now. You also can't use fungus caves, draik nest, or adopt a grundo from the space station for the extra pet

I had this weird misinterpretation that this would be a temporary thing; I must have gotten it confused with the premium slot thing.
