It's even worse than the first NQ lol. Which guides did you use? I feel like the ones I was using weren't very straightforward and I really want to just get this done so I can have the trophy and avatars. Currently on level 7.
As far as guides go, I would just go with JN's. Unless you're on insane, it's not difficult to play through regardless of where you put your stat points. It's just time consuming.

The walkthrough's make it much more easier and for me, surprisingly enjoyable. That was years ago since I last played the game legitimately.
Botting it on the other hand is possible and it's quite awesome. Someone linked you already at the top to a good auto-player by @(you need an account to see links).
Definitely use bots/scripts for NQII-- there's a lot of parts where there's tons of walking and/or level grinding, especially if you're on higher difficulties.
A good guide should just give you maps + tell you where to go and what level to be when you go there, with mention of vendors and necessary NPCs/sidequests.
If it's not straightforward, it's probably useless!
I've always used movement+autobattle scripts while doing boss fights and shopping manually, because I'm an RPG buff at heart and don't mind this stuff at all, but if you want minimal involvement, you can practically autoplay your way through the whole game.
Just be careful when autoplaying through InSaNe difficulty, because you might make better judgments than a bot can when it comes to life and death situations.
But, hopefully, those won't happen as long as you're reasonably leveled..

I actually completed it by hand and used tdn walkthrough lol. It took me only like 4 years to complete, no big deal lol. If I ever do it again, it'll be scripted. I liked the second one a bit better then the first though.

I used a shitty python bot I made to do it for me. Took about 3 weeks because I kept running into bugs and it started over twice. I've only completed NQ2 legitimately once and it took about 3 months. Never again
