How old is the computer? Like, is it likely just starting to struggle due to age?
So my computer crashed this morning, After waiting 25min for it to boot back up I had to leave for work.
I got home and it was started, worked fine and then crashed again. This time it took nearly 2hrs for it to boot up. When it restarted my network drive was uninstalled and Firefox kept crashing. I am running a Full Scan with the built in Windows program but is there something better I can do? I better virus scan/clean up program (that wont clean up my notepad files or any Neo programs)?
I'm scared of running more than the windows scan and 1 internet tab lol. Too much and it crashes real fast

its 3yrs old. I feel like I have a TON of crap on my computer that needs to be cleaned up. The windows program has gone thru 467458 files. Almost done.
That seems like an awful lot. Should I be clearing out old files somewhere? I clear cookies and what not, but am I missing something? haha
Chkdsk goes through all the windows installation files to check their integrity, this sounds more like a physical/hardware issue (hard disk drive to be precise) and you should consider replacing it asap if you don't want to lose your files in there.
Reinstalling windows could work, but it would be a temporary fix... If you didn't understand anything I just said it would be in your best interest to take it to a PC repair shop/tech.

chkdsk is most likely the program that ran when you booted your PC (it was just a black bg with white letters before getting to the desktop, right?)
And you're getting that message because chkdsk is a CLI program that must be run as admin... It also usually runs before windows boots up, you can't check files if they're being in use.

I cant do anything during the boot. my laptop's screen is cracked so its hooked up to a monitor. I don't see anything load till it connects to it.
So I guess that isn't an option?
It's time for a new Laptop isn't it?

Your laptop specs looks good. Maybe try to just fix the screen?
If you're sure there's no problem with your external monitor, you can download windows OS and burn it on USB, then you can do a system restore/troubleshooting, that's usually can fix your issue if you stuck on boot.
