What made you get addicted to Neopets?

What moment specifically?

For me, I think it was when my friends in school showed me how to actually play and navigate through Neopia. I spun the Fruit Machine for the first time and I won a paint brush which shocked my buddies. After that, I found myself going on every day to do the dailies. Then my one friend showed me avatars and how to get them. I wanted to get them all! I was hooked afterwards for many years.

For me, finding good guilds was what hooked me every time.
Back when guilds were booming, that was where I found most of my best neofriends.
I remember racking up thousands of messages in some guilds just chatting about nothing with other guild members and pushing the boundaries of neo filters...

It's been years since I've found a really solid one that's still active enough to keep my attention.

Pet trading.
Back when converteds were all the rage and all I wanted as a royalboy kougra.
The satisfaction from trading up from a pound pet to a draik was amazing for my angsty teenage self.

When I started to notice that people would draw their pets and give them stories, it's when I got addicted... making character designs and working on developing them was the best thing, I used to draw my Neopets on school and then come online after classes to upload the draws on their petpages/petlookups.

Honestly, I don't think I can pin point one specific thing or event that hooked me.

I was introduced to Neo when I was 10/11 and it was something new/fun to me. As cheesy as this might sound it was my escape from the real world. Also I found it easier to make friends on Neo than irl.

I guess mix that in with me being a kid and finding a shiny new toy basically is what got me.

Chatting with people always brought me back each time.

The first time was when I joined one of those super guilds back in the early 00s. I was so excited to talk to people from everywhere.

Each time afrer that I became addicted because of the people I talked to.

I asked for quests like multiple times a day XD. Faeries got me hooked, and then I enjoyed learning to make petpages and characters.

I remember taking my Tigren to the Soup Faerie because I was dirt poor and I loved that stupid little floofball ;-;

For me it was just the huge variety of things to do. At ten years old at the time it was such a 'huge' site to explore with so many different people from different places. Finding guilds for the first time was like striking gold to my young self. I still remember asking my computer lab teacher to let me play, and getting my entire class into the site.
