    Finances of a Stay-At-Home Parent or Sole-Supporter?

I am hoping to get some real insight into families that have a stay at home parent from both perspectives.

How do you make it work financially? What kind of job does the sole supporter have? Would you be comfortable sharing specifics?

This would help tremendously right now. Thanks all. <3

Not me but my friends parents did this growing up. The mom was a hairdresser with minimal clients in their basement and the father was a firefighter who worked his way up to lieutenant making around 80 or 90k. She made maybe 5k a year. They lived in a ranch until the kids were in high school and built up on their home. If you have other questions let me know as I know the family very well so may have immediate answers.

    Also, hi!

I could help with the experience of my bf's family.
The mother is a stay home parent, the father passed away 10 years ago.
Income is archived from rent out of two places, a house in the center and a piece of land rented to a gas station.
If this works for your investigation and you want more info feel free to PM your questions
I know a lot of details and if I don't know them I can easily ask him or his mom.

My husband moved to Australia from America to be with me. He actually didn't have the right visa to be able to work here until after we already knew that I was pregnant, meanwhile I have an established teaching career.

We're a team though; he takes care of Eevee while I'm at work, which saves us childcare costs (SUPER expensive here) and means that she gets one-on-one attention and care. He also enjoys taking care of me, and tries to ensure that I'm as comfortable and relaxed as possible when I'm home. We share housework like cooking and laundry.

Despite only having one income (80k AUD. Not bad by any means, but I'm not on crazy money), we're very comfortable. We're only 5k away from having the house paid off. Both of us are very thrifty, having grown up with money being tight, which definitely helps us prioritise our finances.

If you want to know more, feel free to PM me.
