    How to be internet famous?

Kind of a click bait title but actually, is related
so stay with me while I explain lol

I really want to help my boyfriend with his social media, he's a NSFW/hentai freelance artist which has a solid following on patreon that helps him make a good living out of it. But his popularity on social media (Facebook/Tumbr/Instagram/Twitter) is not that strong, like, he could get 120 notes on tumblr once a month but most of his work goes for 10 notes or less... and not to talk about twitter, he gets like 2 likes per draw and has a very small follow number, same on the other social media.

Tbh I don't know much about social media, or at least, on how to get more exposure and followers.

Does anyone around here have any experience with this?
like, anyone who owns a FB page or social media with a large following?

I'm mostly looking for tips on what could be done, advice or experiences people around here have had.
Considering he's an artist I've been thinking about art giveaways but that doesn't keep people around for long unless you keep doing giveaways constantly, I guess?, and he doesn't have a lot of time to draw for free

Draw fanart of popular series right now, post it on all the social media sites, and tag them with everything possibly related to the art. For example, Overwatch is really big right now, and even if he doesn't like it, there's a hugeeeee fanbase for it on pretty much all social medias. Tumblr, Instagram, and Twitter seem to be the best sites for artists (and ofc deviantART). But he should really start with fanart first, and look at what people are currently into. People don't really care about an artist's OCs until they become popular.
    i love luna

Yup, he does a lot of fanart (mainly that's all what he does) and uses tags on all the social media while uploading them, that's how sometimes one art piece would get more popular if the fanbase is active and it would get reblogged a lot and all that stuff. The problem is mainly that on those social medias he doesn't have a solid standard fanbase, so if the draw doesn't get popular, he just gets like 5 likes from the same people over and over.

Actually trying a page right now on twitter trying to monetize. From the guides I have read content is the big differentiater. Another thing to do is follow/unfollow which is a lot of work as its a daily thing in order to grow followers that way.

Edit: sorry @(you need an account to see links)

The hard part with social media (and SEO for that matter these days) is creating content that people want to share. Once you can start producing content that people want to share and be associated with publicly then you'll start to pick up followers organically. I know that's not much help and I'll be honest I've struggled to crack the code myself for various projects and brands I run.

Long story short = I can't help but figuring out what people will content people will share is key.

Because it is NSFW it is always going to be harder to gain that mainstream social media following. That's because, as @(you need an account to see links) said, people will have to want to share. Most people find hentai too personal or embarrassing to share. Perhaps having SFW versions and trying to share them on popular gaming or anime pages would help gain some popularity.

NSFW is going to be tough because you won't really be able to put any sorts of ads out there. If he does other areas as well, there are options available for that. Posting interesting content and things people will want to share is the best way to get your name out there. If he doesn't have time to do much free art/giveaways, maybe the next time he is working on something he can make it a tutorial.

It's all about thinking outside of the box. If there were a winning formula to getting well known like that - it probably wouldn't work for very long because it would be saturated before too long. Brainstorm and come up with whatever sets him and his art apart.
I am guilty of watching those videos on youtube and such where somebody time lapses them making something delicious, or watching those people with the awesome fancy penmanship. Maybe have him time lapse his drawings and post them up. It's always interesting to see something start to finish. If that isn't possible or just too much, maybe pics of the step by step drawing so people can see how he does it and what he does. Maybe he enjoys going to lovely places and creating art. Posting a pic of the art along with some aesthetically pleasing locations. Bitches love aesthetics.
    What's my definition of success?
Creating something no one else can
Being brave enough to dream big
Grindin' when you're told to just quit
Giving more when you got nothin' left

has he advertised his social media pages on his patreon?

adding further onto aura's suggestion, i'm active on twitter and most of my mutuals rt lots of fanart. right now i think the "in" series is bnha (this is crazy popular right now), but mystic messenger (for girls mostly) and yuri on ice is still pretty popular. the toughest part about exposure is the nsfw nature of your boyfriend's art.

branch out to furry artists, draw furry porn, take commissions from furries, cater to furries

this sounds like a joke but i promise you furry artists are where the money and fame are. i dont know how a bunch of neet degens who jack it to crash bandicoot make so much bank but they want to give it to you to draw their fursona bustin a nut.
