I don't know the general attitude, and it mostly seems to be a state issue. For example Slot Machines got banned in Vienna some time ago, while they are still legal outside of the city limits in lower Austria. I play BJ mostly but I never won any extra cash

I just can't get hooked on gambling knowing I'm risking my own money and the chances of winning are too slim at times. Aside from poker, I don't find it fun... but my sis is another story. She is like lady fortune's pet :p

Went to Las Vegas for the first time this past spring.

I can see how one could get addicted, and all I played was terrible slot machines.

I was at a casino and put $5 in a slot machine - almost immediately won $20 and wanted to cash out - my gf disagreed sonwe kept playing and watched it drain $.05 at a time !

Being a degenerate gambler was one of my father's many vices that contributed to the unnecessary poverty I grew up with. As such, it's not something I indulge in. I'd rather play it safe and know for certain that my family will have food for the week.

Slot machines are very common in Australia; almost every pub has at least one. My (American) husband found it very unusual that a lot of pubs here will have family dining/kid's playground and also slot machines.

I used to play slot machines from time to time two years or so ago and I'm pretty sure that I managed to make 500$+ profit. However, I stopped all types of gambling right after I won a big amount of money because I realized that I was becoming more and more addicted to it. I was kind of afraid I wouldn't be able to stop myself from playing so I just decided it would be best to enjoy my prize money and never play again.
