    Adobe discontinuing flash (by 2020)

So just reading that Adobe is discontinuing flash by 2020.

(you need an account to see links)

Wondering what sort of impact this will have for neopets. I recall TNT saying they intended for more mobile friendly games (not flash) though don't know how capable they are of converting to something like HTML5. There are tools to help. Just wondering what TNT will do.

Also, @(you need an account to see links), what are the capabilities for score senders working with the likes of HTML5?

So, we have a date now... interesting
If I recall, one of the reasons Club Penguin closed was that, since it ran by flash and is basically already an outdated technology.
I'm part of the Habbo community (which also runs by flash) and they have been laying off staff on all the hotels, currently they went from like 20 staff per hotel to 1-3 and they decided to just run an auto-moderation system to save money, so it really seems for most users that they are already feeling the end of the road.

Wondering if for Neopets it will be the same or the new company that adquired it has plans to keep the site running and change things up.

I would assume you would still be able to use old versions of flash to play the games so they wouldn't necessarily have to retire them all, they'd just be treated like how we treat the shockwave games now.

What @(you need an account to see links) said. Flash will still work, it just won't be updated or supported by Adobe.

What we should be concerned about is when all major browsers stop supporting flash.

    Adobe discontinuing flash (by 2020)

Score senders can still be made for HTML5.

If TNT or JS, whatever you want to call them, are knowledgeable enough then they'd know there are libraries and frameworks out there that can help convert their Flash games to HTML5/WebAssembly/WebGL.

Also as people have already stated, Neopets does not solely run because of their games but it is a big part of the site.

The games will still work. Browsers will still and most likely always allow you to run Flash. It just won't be supported by anyone anymore.

With the way Web development has become today, I wouldn't be surprised if someone makes a javascript or Web framework that replicates Flash.

I wonder if Encrypted Media Extensions (EME) will have any impact in html5 games or if they will decide to use it (if it's useful or possible to use it) .

if it lasts that long, they will probably just let it rot while things slowly get more and more incompatible as browsers update and such.
