i didn't make it into grad school

guys...i'm crushed. i read the letter and literally felt like i got kicked in the stomach. i was so excited. i've told everybody i was gonna be back in school in the fall to pursue my passion...i wanna be a counselor more than anything.

i got my bachelor's at that school, my narrative kicked ass. i have no idea why i didn't get accepted.



what do i do now?

Accept the loss and look at whatever positives there might be. As cliche and stupid as it’s gonna sound, there’s a reason for this. Maybe the school wouldn’t have been a right fit down the line for a graduate degree. Maybe you’re going to need the spare time for something unexpected coming up.
Reach out to people and don’t internalize the disappointment, but don’t give up. Wait a little while and apply for a different school. But don’t let this tear your completely apart.

yes, there are. i'm going to look into them because, to be honest, i didn't think i wouldn't be accepted. i'm just hoping that they still have applications open because the school i got rejected at had their deadline back in february.

Many Universities like their International student tuition so it is a great deal of competition these days.

My girlfriend is currently applying to med school. The process is incredibly intense and competitive - apparently about 60% of all applicants don't end up matriculating somewhere. That's a 3/5 chance of having to wait another entire year to have to apply again. She seems to realize it - not only that, but she thinks of it as a potential opportunity to better herself as an applicant.

I'm sorry but totally see this as an opportunity rather than a missed opportunity. Maybe work on getting some relevant work experience? Take up volunteering until the next application cycle? I'm sure there's lots you can do!

I'm sorry I'm in community college rn because I chose drugs over education so Idk what advice I could really give you, as you probably were in a better spot than me.
You could always try a different school or just do community college. Or just say fuck it all because degrees no longer mean you will get a job with it right out of the gate.
