Red face why do i make such bad decisions

i bought a secondhand fish tank cabinet on impulse, because i wanted to shift my fish tank away from the window

and as i was struggling to move furniture around my dad asked me why on earth did i pay $35 for such a banged-up cabinet

it just dawned on me that a fish tank cabinet is no different from a regular cabinet????? i could've gotten something at ikea in better condition for possibly a better price????? fml

this is just like the time i bought a 3 feet fish tank on a whim thinking that it was 3 times the length of my own foot. so when it came in a truck i was really really confused for a minute or so.

i am the world's biggest idiot hah

I feel bad for laughing at the "thinking that it was 3 times the length of my own foot". (Not trying to be rude)

It is always frustrating to spend money on something you'll later regret. But hey it's "just" $35.
I'd prefer making such mistakes insteads of the ones I've done in my life.

I understand that having your dad mock you for that is annoying, my parents are like that too.
All of this is a learning experience, don't be so harsh on yourself.

Well.... actually; fish tank cabinets are usually better reinforced on the inside for supporting the heavy weight of a filled fishtank. They are usually also made with protective finish to resist the occasional splash.

    Ikea cabinets are not.

What they said, ikea wouldn't be able to hold the weight of the fish tank for very long. You'd come home one day to all ur fish on the floor, a broken cabinet and broken fish tank cuz it collapsed form the weight.

that ikea pressed wood is some cheap cheap shit.

Well for foot you were somewhat right. The origin of measurement was the average of a "mans foot" which nowadays is 12 inches. Cause men ruled the world back then hehe.

And like everyone else said before, the cabinet was actually a very good buy. It is built to hold all that water weight, so if your dad gives you flack for it don't let it get to you. A new cabinet that holds a 4 foot fish tank costs about anywhere from 100 to 400 dollars if it is a wooden cabinet. The only ones less than $100 are made out of metal.

Who has fish anymore anyway? Get yourself a kangaroo or a scorpion. Something wild!

So, I totally had a dream about being stomped by a moose last night; no more jokes about them being pets from me anymore.
