So I'm in a heated debate with @(you need an account to see links) and @(you need an account to see links) about Poutine and Chilli Cheese Fries being similar

They're both potato dishes covered in cheese and a topping flavor/sauce/whatever you wanna call it. I ain't Gordon Ramsay or nothin'

They think I'm the devil for thinking the two resemble each other

I think they're retarded.
But more importantly I think they need to reevaluate how they compare foods.

As someone who was born and raised in LA but has lived in Montreal for about 2 years, they def don't taste the same, but I can see the striking similarity in concept

They are built similarly, but the way they are assembled is different and the flavor profile along with the texture while consuming are very different.

I really don't know any restaurant here that does chili cheese fries; just green chilE cheese fries...which beats Poutine allllll day, and I love poutine. Though maybe if I try non-American poutine I could be swayed to the dark side.

I agree that cheese should be able to melt, but once it even gets soft I'm out. The texture just doesn't appeal to me.
