He's always 2 to 4 steaps ahead from everyone? Oh, okay. He was trained or something, right?
It's still ... different in a weird way.

I mean that the movie does not represent how smart he actually is.

I watched it today with my boyfriend
(we actually ended up signing to netflix just to watch this lol)

Ok, I have many thoughts about the matter... as someone who read the manga, watched the anime and such... it was funny to watch, we both laughed at many parts and were annoyed on how stupid they made this version of Light, he's not clever at all, and also lets Misa (or Mia) do stupid shit.

    But

    But

    BUT

It was well made, we didn't get bored and found it entertaining.
Which is probably gonna be an unpopular opinion.

If you see it as "another version of Death Note that doesn't follow the manga/anime rules" it's not a bad movie.

If you see it as "a thing that tried to follow the anime/manga rules" then it's not well done.

the one time you don't netflix and chill lol
in the end no one ever knew what the outcome would be. So I guess you have to do your best to make a decision that you wont regret.

i put it in the category of "so bad it was fun." i watched the japanese life action film years back and dug it, and i thought this one was more fun with the cliches and gore. but they really wasted L's character.

I mean, I guess it was made well like Rrachel said, but...? It was kind of boring in my opinion. After the first few minutes I tried to just disconnect it from the source material, but even as a standalone, it was pretty mediocre.

I have a hope that live action adaptations of anime will get really good in the near future. Like, superhero movies started out really rocky but there was a kind of renaissance with them and now there's some really good ones to choose from. So I guess the Death Note movie was kind of a step in that direction, what with the better use of CG (less direct shots of Ryuuk than the JP live actions so it didn't look so out of place), somewhat decent acting (at least some of the time, it was a little questionable at points), and general "modern" quality. I hope Netflix tries again but maybe with a less well-known property? So that fewer people get pissed.

I didn't personally watch it. After the Japanee live action I was done with that. My friend did watch it tho and life texted me her reaction and from what I can gather it's trash.

I watched it with friends. Thank god I did; it was so bad I probably wouldn't have finished it if I watched it on my own.
