My husband told me that they weren't allowed to sell them anymore where he lived (California) because too many stupid people tried to eat the plastic toy egg too. I really hope he was just taking the piss when he said that.
I heard about that lmao... and apparently you don't get kinder in US so I'm assuming it's true. I found it hard to believe people could be that stupid or parents could be irresponsible enough to not monitor a child young enough who may not know better. but then again, there was also that dumb woman that bought a cup of piping hot coffee from McDonalds and decided to place it between her legs to hold it, when she drove she got burnt by the coffee or something so she sued McDonalds and won lol.
The 1938 Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act contains a section highlighting that a confectionery product with a non-nutritive object, partially or totally embedded within it, cannot be sold within the United States, unless the FDA issues a regulation that the non-nutritive object has functional value. Essentially, the 1938 Act bans “the sale of any candy that has embedded in it a toy or trinket”

If you are coming over the border from Canada to America they will absolutely confiscate your kinder surprise eggs. When my american friends would visit they'd buy kinder surprise eggs, coffee crisps, ketchup chips to bring back with them. Always stash the kind surprise eggs.
I recommend these little guys btw. if you get a chance, try them

it's a shame too, the chocolate is the best.

Yes. The toys are bigger. Those Bueno bars aren't nearly as good as the eggs. Nice alternative though.
Dw its not just America that gets thing banned. When Pokemon was big they sold pokeballs with something inside them at McDonald's and they got banned cause some kid got one half stuck on its face and died.

I distinctly remember eating candy that was a chocolate shell with a toy inside when I was kid. Looking back on that now, it means it was illegally imported and smuggled over the border by some shady illicit candy dealer lol.

It was a big pokeball that opened and it had a 'gold' Pokemon 'card' standing up in it (it was like 1/4 inch thick). The whole thing was a toy.
I only remember because my aunt managed a McDonald's at the time and she brought me home a whole box of them. lmao
Those eggs look neat though. Closest thing we had when I was a kid was the wonder ball hollow balls of chocolate with small candies inside.
