Fluent...unfortunately not! But I understand a lot more than I can express. (For example, I sometimes translate doujinshi...usually nsfw ones. Can take some time though.)
I've been in Japan for almost 9 months now - and I'll be here for at least another 4-ish years, but likely much longer.
By background, do you mean my ethnicity or nationality? Well, either way.. I'm from America originally and I'm a european mutt. xD

Yeah, I already had some knowledge before I came here. I had done some serious self study for about a year before I came here in anticipation. But, I've definitely picked up quite a bit since I came too. I have Japanese class three times a week, though it's hard to put a lot of focus on it when I have a lot of other really demanding classes. My first semester I was taking 11 classes. ヽ(￣д￣; )ノ

My first language is English.
I know, shocking - it's so bad, right? hahaha.

Because "laugh" in Japanese is "warai" (笑い （わらい）), so it's taking the w from that. ^^

Also, you should tell me about the anime your DP is from. I asked my friend and she said, "I think it's that accelerator guy" and I said "Ohh, yeah that makes sense." But she couldn't tell me about it and the guy looks questionably insane. I like characters like that...so - what's the series about? If you don't mind me asking!

It's the same with people who keep wondering how to/in which order watch/watching the monogatari series.

I feel like there was a series where I did that, but I can't quite recall what it was at this time. (too tired, probably...)
But I tend to stick to shorter series with only one or two seasons. Don't have the patience for those really long ones with many seasons. ww
