I think they are getting rid of old stupid things on the site (like the random contest, Lenny conundrum) to make room for newer and better things. Who cares if the avatars are retiring. If you couldn't be bothered before to get them, quit whining that you can't get them any more.

I see jumpstart making a good effort here. You don't understand that neopets is more complicated than their games they've made previously. They are dealing with more than they've ever done before and I'm sure they must be slightly overwhelmed, especially considering the damage that had already been done and the previous abuse from the older staff that has likely been fired already by jumpstart.

    Think of it like this:
Neopets staff = A previous president (ran everything into the ground)
Jumpstart: The president that has to come behind them and clean everything up and still try and look like their doing more than that at the same time.

It's not easy, people. Give them a chance.

I disagree.. random contest does not take a lot of their time. It is something a manager could easily slap on someone else's desk to do.

Nope...they just want to keeping getting the milk from the cow while it's neck is silt

This company has nothing to offer. A mobile app? Genius. That'll bring in new people. And when they get to the site what there be for them to do? Nothing.
So guess what's going to happen? They get the nostalgia people, get bank off in app purchases with the well established brand (I mean think of how many people know neopets, it's a household name) - and do nothing with the site.

Voila now you know their whole business plan. The other half is neocash.

They have no intentions to do anything with the site. None. What so ever

I see this a bit like has been eluded to in some posts here. Likely as part of the transition under new management, JumpStart performed a cost benefit analysis of how they're allocating their employee's finite time to certain parts of the site. While coming up with an idea for a random contest isn't terribly hard, someone has to go through the entries for each one. They ensure no legal bounds are broken on user created content. Then winners awarded in some amount of time. I get the feeling the cost of the time to perform the contest while probably relatively small was just not worth it compared to how few entries they were receiving. I'm with Joe on this one. I think this will payoff over time with a more lean staff being more efficient and putting staff in areas of more profitability and (hopefully) as a result in areas that more people want.

Disagree all you want lol it's proven by numbers that these "departments" of Neo are not bringing interest for the site. They are becoming irrelevant. The site needs to go mobile. Why have these staff who run these contests (which are losing players each month) on payroll when they can ditch them and hire some employees doing more relevant stuff for the company.
