Guide to blending in the PC; Revamped ♥

[Guide to blending into the PC; Revamped]

Written with @(you need an account to see links) <3

Its been a year, a year of learning for us all; from being able to trade your pet cacheless, to put literally any pet on a shell account and nobody bat an eyelash. Pet trades being reversed were unheard of. Everyone was scrambling to trade for any UC at all, thanks to the decline of draiks and krawks at the forgotten shore. But now, PCers have gotten more information; they know about illegit sites like clraik, that buying pets exist, thus making our job a bit harder, but not impossible.

People are now referring to /~bruise, and some people have taken a better word to it. Some legit (or seemingly) legit users have even turned a blind eye to us cheaters. But, there still are people who are rabid hunters for illegit players. And your goal is to blend in and trade your pets, without these rabid players catching onto you. With this updated guide, youll know how to blend in like a regular PCer.

Part one: How to look on the Outside

Pcers are generally seen as a lesser version of ACers; They care about how their accounts look, but mainly focus more on aesthetics vs the actual stats of an account (stamps, avatars, trophies, etc.) But, this does not mean you can ignore this flat out.

Userlookups: Literally the first people take a look at when determining if someone is legit or not.

Because if this truly was your main, youd probably have a userlookup.
There are lovely premade css at (you need an account to see links), (you need an account to see links), (you need an account to see links), & (you need an account to see links) to get you started.

Some of them you can add your own flair and edit. The only thing that wont out you as illegit, but put people off are those sunnyneo premades. /gross

Try to at least /somewhat/ build up your account. Accounts & UCs are not a one size fits all. Shells are a no-no, period. Shell accounts are defined as accounts that were literally just made, with few avatars, no trophies, no site themesessentially someone literally made the account and forgot about it one day. I cannot say there is one general account for UCs to sit on safely. The UC is only as good as the main it comes from! More details on this later.

     Petlookups & Petpages:
Generally PCers who truly care about their account usually have one or two favorite pets, with them being customized nicely and having decent looking petpages.

There are many cheap NC wearables available for converted and UCs alike, so your pets can look decent. For BD pets, morph into a somewhat unpopular species, and get species specific wearables if you dont feel like spending extra money on NC. Customized pets go a long way on the PC & legitimacy. For UCs, I find its best to invest in some NC backgrounds & or garlands/foregrounds, and mix & match. A nice page on /~wintory can list some pretty 1-4 cap items.

Part two: Fundamentals of a PCer account

No better way to look like a PCer is to wellLook at other PCers and see what they look like. Over the years, the face of an average PCer account has changed. PCers are more UC conscious, and have a plethora of UC getters on their accounts.

The average PCer at a glance now has:
     At least 200 avatars
Not too focusing on stamps/neodeck cards (seems more like you get a stamp; put it in. Not so much looking to buy)
A decent sized shop & gallery (at least size 25 each). Of course, themed with nice lookups in the shop and gallery.
May or may not be a NC addict as well, but is sure to have quite a few items in their closet and pets.
     Trophies; mainly site event ones.
They always will have that One Permie pet that is not a UC, RW/RN, or BD. This person in particular has two.

In order to trade be on the PC without being immediately called out, you generally cannot get around it; you need to have a respectable main to trade off of. This does NOT mean you have to go out and buy a $100 main to trade off a uc baby kougra, but be smart. If the UC you have is worth $300, and your account is worth 10 max, is it really a wise idea to have the UC in the first place if you plan on being a part of neo-society?

Consider the UCs you would like to own, if you plan on being board active, and the accounts you have right now. If you dont have an emotional attachment to your current main, and it looks suspicious to have the UC on your account, consider either building up the account a bit more to make it look polished, or get a new main altogether.

The reason you need a main account, especially with UCs is so you dont end up looking like this:

Most people will seriously doubt the legitimacy of your pet, because the account is literally empty. One pet is barely customized, while the other two are left completely uncustomized. A young shell, with literally no signs of it being a main: RIP.

    DONT LET THIS BE YOU!

    Part Three: Gaining Trust

If you do decide to be a part of the PC society for any reason whatsoever (trading pets, chatting, etc) and have UC actives, there will always be one creep trying to call you out, making your life hell, or just overall thinks its a sick joke to see if they can embarrass to be honest, a complete stranger.

Here are some tips I found out on my own in order to look trustworthy:

Always be with someone else, or in a group of friends. Make it look like youre not some loner, and a sign of legitimacy (at least on the PC) is to have a couple of good friends to bump with. Heck, even get like 2 other accounts that look unrelated to you and bump the board/talk if needed.

Be semi-active in PC discussions. Post on boards once in a while, so it looks like you want to be social. You dont need to post on every board, just friendly looking general chat ones. Avoid drama boards at all cost. Just a bad idea with a bunch of raging females.

Attempt to make friends with legit PCers, or at a very minimum get them on their good side. I remember when a friend of mine was being called out, people immediately stuck up for her and everyone forgot about it.

A little psychology goes into play here. Be somewhat reluctant in trading your pet. Dont act like you want to get rid of it as soon as humanly possible. In neomails, show a bit of thought before accepting an offer (for example, even consider someone, make an A/R/B board) to show that you really care about UCs. Legit PCers cannot just buy any pet they like on a whim; they spent years getting to where they were today!

    Part Four: Common Questions

Thanks to you lovely, awesome, amazing people you can now help me, so I can help you. Here are some questions revolving around the PC, answered:

    1. Why does the PC appear to be so friendly at first? Then, how come they look so terrible after?

Ah, the one thing many people wonder. Its like being in a huge group. Generally, there will always be a few bad people in the bunch that will represent the entire group, when this isnt true. There will always be those diamonds in the rough, which is what youd like to aim for. While I cannot generalize who looks like a good person, and whos not so good, rule of thumb of people to avoid is:

If they make a lot of drama boards
If they are the TOPIC of drama boards
If they are always spitting out their opinion, no matter if it sounds rude or not.
Generally an overall look of acting as if they are above others, or constantly put down others. (So basically, a bully. A peek at the userlookup & how they talk on the boards is a good way to tell.)

There are also quite a few CKers who are on the PC as well, who might even be willing to guide you in the right direction!

    2. What do I avoid on the PC?

There is quite a list of what you should avoid, but here are my top picks, personally:

Adding/Creating Drama. Not saying you want to stay invisible, but its best to get on peoples good sides.

Having too many UCs. Yes, this is very possible. Apparently only Popular, well known PCers have the right to have 10 UCs, and the rest of us; RIP. I know quite a few people who have been reported, iced and suspected of being illegit, just because they had too many UCs. Personally, I would have 1-2 UCs, and 3 more spread out over side accounts. Sad but true. UCs are great, but don't overdo it on one account.

People who make drama boards, or tend to disagree with everyone. While I cannot make a list of these users, its very apparent just by a day or two of lurking the PC. Just dont post on the drama boards themselves, or on any board they make.

Bringing a huge amount of attention to you. This is because of what happens currently, and in the future. You might be unknown, but there will always be one or two people who will remember you; and what if you get a new UC, or something huge on your account, and you need to post again? Either dont post period until you have a good explanation for these changes, or dont post at all until your account is done.

    3. What are some cheap ways I can make a decent account to hold a UC?

Honestly, this can only go so far. The variable in this situation is the UC you have, If it has BD stats, and the name. But a cheap way to make a nice account to hold a UC is:

Buy a semi-main. There are many nice account sellers currently onsite, and they would be happy to have a sale. Most of the time old semi-mains that were left to rot are missing quite a few easy avatars, and in the end the account can be built up really nicely!

Give the account a gallery and a shop of decent size. Depending on the persona you are using, there are nice gallery themes for under 100k; chia pops, plushies, faerie items, etc. Give the gallery and shop a nice layout as well. Stock your shop with some codestones, dubloons, etc.

SS, AoB or get someone to get you some game trophies if you dont have them on the current account already. Legit people play games, so you need to look like you do as well. Try to play a decent amount of games on the account as well if not a lot of games are already played (250 is a good amount, as it is also the number of games needed for the avatar)

On top of the UC(s) you want to trade, get a couple of random WN pets and customize them. Itll make you look better as youre not all about the UCs, and its a sign of legitimacy. Give it a pet lookup, sappy descriptioneverything. This really helps.

Make even 1-2 side accounts. These dont need to be fancy at all. Fill it with a couple of converted pets, and do the same as you would a main, minus all the other prepwork involved.

    4. Do I need a custom petlooukp? How do I make a good description for my pet?

Well first off, a majority of Neopets uses premade petlookups. You dont really need to get custom made ones, and even then its uncommon to find someone doing them onsite, especially for most likely a stranger. For example, this is a nice petlookup that shows someone caring for their pet:

First off, its best to get a petlookup that matches your pets color scheme. It actually looks like you took the time to get a petlookup, instead of slapping on any old one. You also dont need to write a 50 page saga on your pets lookup. Even a blurb about how special your pet is, how its a dreamie. You can even write a little story about your pet. The point is to not leave it blank.

    5. What do I say when someone asks about my pet?

First off, think about why someone would be asking about your pet in the first place. Does the UC on your account look like it as doesnt belong? Is your account too young to be considered successful? if you answered yes to either, take it as a sign that you need to improve your account before putting UCs on there.

The only other reasons I could think of someone asking about your pet is because:

You have the pet UFT, and the person may be a bit wary before going through a trade with you.

     Someone is genuinely nosy.

For someone asking about your pet due to you two going through a trade, a little psychology goes a long way. Try to sympathize with them about all the trade reversals, and just go along with it. Write in a word document what youre going to say, as telling two different stories looks shady. Just simply tell the person what you traded for the pet, and even get a friend to play along (optional), and simply tell the person you traded with them. Or, you can say the pet was traded a couple of years ago, and link to a frozen pet.

For nosy people, the best thing to do is keep your cool. Dont ignore them, as this can be seen as if youre trying to avoid something. Just do the same as you would for above. Just show the person that you are serious and not in the mood to be fucked with. They will go away.

    6. Do I need a petpage?

If you want to look truly legit, petpages dont hurt. You dont need like a 10 page story on your petpage; a NC/NP wishlist, a list of avatars needed and even an about me page are all acceptable ways to fill petpages.

    7. How do I make an attention catching board title, and how do I talk on the PC?

Youd be surprised for a board that uses many abbreviations, that the PC generally frowns upon chatspeak. Generally, its best to type with literacy. lol and such are accepted forms of chatspeak, but tYPing lyk dIS as if nobody can understand you is frowned upon. Using a font is best too. (you need an account to see links) and (you need an account to see links) have nice fonts for use.

As for a board title, you generally need to make it eye-catching. Prevent making typos in your title, and youre set really.

You cant make anyone really come to your board, but certain titles will get you more attention! Most of them are off topic ones, ones of celebration, ect. You can never be direct with the PC anymore!

If you have any more questions feel free to PM me or post and the board and your question might be listed here!

    Conclusion/TL;DR

I know this may be a lot to take in, but a lot of TLC and time out of your day is necessary to keep a pet safer in public. While these tips may not guarantee you wont get frozen, its still a handy shield to have- knowledge IS power.

Please make sure you keep in mind all the basic security precautions prior to delving into the world of the PC; you dont want to spend all this time dolling up your main account and UC pet for it to be frozen due to security issues.

I hope this helped! Thank you for reading and good luck out there!

TL;DR. However, make sure to thoroughly read the actual guide before reading this! These are just key points that are taken away from each section.

    Part 1- Looking The Part

◕ The UC is only as safe as the main its on.

◕ Avoid the default look! Use helpful css such as (you need an account to see links), (you need an account to see links), (you need an account to see links), & (you need an account to see links) to look the part.

Part 2- The Fundementals of a PCer account

◕ The average PCer at a glance now has:

     At least 200 avatars

Not too focusing on stamps/neodeck cards (seems more like you get a stamp; put it in. Not so much looking to buy)

A decent sized shop & gallery (at least size 25 each). Of course, themed with nice lookups in the shop and gallery.

May or may not be a NC addict as well, but is sure to have quite a few items in their closet and pets. Consider investing into easy cheap NC items to dress up pets. A nice page listing most attractive 1-4 cap items are here: (you need an account to see links)

     Trophies; mainly site event ones.

They always will have that One Permie pet that is not a UC, RW/RN, or BD. This person in particular has two.

    Part 3- Gaining Trust

◕ Dont wander around alone, its generally best to have someone else keeping you company for the first while you create boards on the PC. Hell, Ive had 2 accounts of mine converse on the same board. Its sad but ya gotta do what ya gotta do.

◕ Get on the good side of some established PCers. Its not necessary but it really is helpful to have connections

◕ If youre trading your UC pet and you received an offer you really like that isnt a downtrade, dont accept right away because then the trader will assume theyre overoffering and retract their offer. Its super annoying, but its a game traders have to play, and this is a little strategy.

Aw, well I hope it helps you to know what to look for though! I know a few people here sell semi-mains that can be built into something nice. ^_^

Ummm depends on your situation. It would put more merit in your account, but as long as you use a nice, modern looking premade most people won't bat an eyelash. ^_^
