Now I believe that you would write it like this: C (cost) = .02x + 15 if x > 500. C = 15 if x < 500. Does that make sense? Now I'm pretty positive thats how you write it, just not 100% like I have been on all the rest that I've helped you with..

#1: I'll have to think about this one but I'll get back to you
    Okay, that makes sense
I'm not sure on how to write it in the function format which is f(x) right? I know y= and f(x) are the same but I'd like to see how f(x) fits in here.
If x = number of minutes, then writing an equation for the cost wouldnt be something like this would it?

    f(x) = { 15 if x < 500
    0.02x if x > 500

    It's a little different from "Cost = "/"y="
because finding the objective, the cost, is clearer
But in "f(x) = ", the number of minutes are the "objective" where the $$ amount should be o.o
Do I make sense? x3 I really suck at explaining shit lol dont ask about my math vocab
I really only understad the equation if it's explained in words

    Edit ohh wait I think I get it, f(x) = { blablabla
    is basically saying
"x number of minutes put in this function will equal y cost"
    So it's a flipped C = 0.02x blablabla
Shit throws me off cos theres no "y" to solve for lol
I'm used to isolating x to find y
But I think this problem is way simpler xD

    ?!? idk

if you're writing the equation using f(x), then it would be a little like that but I think it would look like this

    f(x) = { 0x + 15 if x < 500 (I think you might need to throw the 0x in there but it isnt too important)
    f(x) = .02x +15 if x > 500

because you cant forget the 15 because that's there regardless. and y= and f(x) = do mean the same thing yes.

And you're explanation skills are basically like mine x) But in this case x = minutes, f(x) doesnt equal minutes. f(x) is the objective and it equals the cash not the number of minutes. Just think of it like this : its basically saying that f(x) is the function of x when x equals a certain amount, or in this case, x equals the number of minutes and the function of that (x being minutes) is the total cost. Get it?

its so hard to explain Dx

    OHH OMG TRUUUEEE
The last bit especially helped me, I think it was a huge hindrance to how I could understand this
Thank so much omg <3 Yessss
...Now throwing in a coefficient like f(5x) seems even more difficult Dx
You just solve for x right? I'm not sure how that'd work, it's so overwhelming
    something like f(5x) = 2-3(5x)

If I was given the value, say plug in f(2) it'd be easy and mindless
But what if you have a coefficient & variable :s I dunno what to do

    No problem ^^

And no I dont believe you solve for x. Look at it this way : f(5x), you would have your x value then multiply it by 5, then you solve for your f(x) or y value. when it's 5f(x), thats when it gets fun. When you have 5f(x), you plug in your x value and work it all the way out and then you multiply your final answer by 5. Or at least that's how I was taught

Ohh ok So there's really no solution until I get a value if x. Will I always be told this value or will I have to find/solve for it sometimes?
