Also this. If it wasn't for him, I would be looking at paying a $160k medical bill instead of $3k because I'm still covered by my parents medical insurance. Actually, with follow up visits and all the other stuff, I'd probably be looking at closer to $200k+. I have a college degree. I have 2 jobs. I wasn't getting insurance coverage from either job before the ACA. Now I don't have to worry about it for another year, and when I DO have to worry about it, I won't be SOL because now I have options.

I haven't watched the SotU (DVRing that shit), so I'll repost with thoughts later, but I HAD to say something.
Well the point I was making is that he doesn't care about working with congress, he just wants to push through what he wants. We might as well make him king! There is checks and balances for a reason. He already said that he can't really do anything TOO major with his executive orders, but just that he is trying to go around everyone. He's already done quite a few executive orders.

In my opinion, he tried too hard to put his name on "Obamacare". They didn't take the time to set anything up properly either. There were issues from the start, more people lost coverage than got coverage, it was just one giant clusterfuck. And while I'm all for more people getting better care, but at what cost? Because while it might have only cost 3k for you, somebody, somewhere, somehow is going to be paying for that for you; probably by having their own plans hiked up quite a bit. I'm not so much a fan of that. I think the govt just need to buckle down and stop spending money needlessly. We give TONS of aid to other countries, countries that hate us. Why? We could be using that to help our own people.
idk, I feel like I'm just rambling. I'm just sad that our generation is going to inherit the most fucked up country ever.
    What's my definition of success?
Creating something no one else can
Being brave enough to dream big
Grindin' when you're told to just quit
Giving more when you got nothin' left

No one has allowed Obama to do most of the things that he has promised. He isn't the best president, but he isn't the worst.

You guys wanna know what really caused a lot of this shit we're dealing with now?

    Reagan.

I truly believe he would work with Congress if Congress would work with him. But when the Senate Minority Leader publicly states that their entire purpose is to make sure you're a one term president, there's not much that you can do. The shit that Congress has pulled makes me wonder where the fuck THEIR checks and balances are. You talk about spending too much money, I personally think that we should stop paying Congress until they do their fucking jobs and pass more than 65 bills in a year. That's goddamn ridiculous.

And Obama was not the first to use the term Obamacare. In fact, Mitt Romney used the term Obamacare in 2007. And it was used as a pejorative statement. So it makes sense to me that one tactic would be to reclaim the word and attempt to take the negative connotation out of it.

My family's insurance changed. We changed doctor's. I can't see the doctor's that operated on me because they're not covered under my new insurance. We have to pay the first $6,000 of medical bills out of pocket. But I would GLADLY pay more money out of pocket if it means that more people get insurance, honestly. I agree that the ACA is flawed. Absolutely. But I think that it's much better than what we had. I personally don't think that our health system is socialist enough. I think that it's absolutely absurd that we're basically the only developed nation that doesn't have universal healthcare.

And I think the whole "help our people first" thing is bullshit (sorry). People need to stop thinking that just because their parents happened to bump genitals in the USA means that they're better than everyone else and deserve help more than everyone else. Just because some governments are dicks towards the States (usually rightly so because the States were dicks first) doesn't mean that their people are and deserve to be punished.

Also, sorry. Politics major up in this bitch.
