I know I got to level 34 on rift few weeks ago and just stop playing it got boring fast, PVP is not all that great either, healing, dps, rank classes need to be better structured so you can't just grab a skill from one of the other classes.
I've been looking for free to play FPS but no real luck there.

I haven't played in so long (no time) but I strictly remember the quests as grind-based most of the timeI was a lonely player so it got kind of old after a while. It definitely is fun when you start out though. I played it for hours at a time every day for a week...hmmm, I'll pick it up again soon just to see how it's doing!

It's incredibly easy to go 1-40 in a day, that part is mainly quest-grind, yes. Then it gets noticeably slower, but not to the point I'd call too grindy.
From 50+ up it's mainly focused on instance content if I'm not too out of date. My favorite instance opens at 55, you're just massively raided by a bunch of bunnies from every corner of the map.
I've tried many MMOs since 2003 and I -really- liked playing Aura Kingdom last year. Community seemed very nice too.
The only big thing I have against it is that it's under AGE's umbrella. They always find a way to milk dumb rich players with ridiculous RNG stuff and find a way to make content that's free in the eastern versions somehow end up in cash-shop (in this game, the most popular case would be two of the quest-unlockable eidolons). So far it isn't damaging the game, but still. Nonetheless, no matter how much I dislike AGE, I have to admit my favorite MMO's golden-age was from the times it was under AGE, so. (SMT - Imagine, I admit I cried when it went off-line, so many wonderful memories)
i didn't know AK makers also made Eden eternal, i played Eden crap loads but its quest just got boring to me around level 20 and took so long too.
I also played EE for a good while but I gradually got uninterested too. The devs seem to have learned quite a bit with their previous creations such as Grand Fantasia, Kitsu Saga and Eden Eternal. You can clearly see that they tried to fix the obvious problems in their previous game. Makes me wonder what's comming after AK.
