    Online Dating

I know its been a controversial subject.
Now days it seems that more and more people are turning towards internet dating instead of meeting people at SuperMarkets, Bars, Events, Parties, ect... I want to know what you all think about online dating, and do you believe that it is possible to find your "soul mate" or possibly someone you might marry? I personally think online dating is beneficial if you are in a new area and don't know anyone. Do you think women on dating websites are equally as creepy as guys? Honestly, I feel like its awkward when you bring someone home and your family asks how you two met each other.
Do you still prefer to meet people the old fashioned way, or are you converting to internet dating?

If you have catfish stories, please do share!
If you have any mush storys, feel free to post those too.

I'm bored, and since we are a huge online community I thought this would be an interesting topic?

I guess it is just as likely that you could find your "soul mate" online. I think the only difference between meeting someone on the internet or in real life is that they can't put up a photo of them 2 years ago when they looked better; i.e. they could be fat now, it happened to a friend of mine.

I personally like to do it the old fashion way and either date someone I already know or if I strike up a convo with someone in real life and I find they are interesting then ask them out for coffee or dinner and get to know them more.

I signed up for an online dating site one time, but I just didn't like it tbh. Not really sure what it was about it that turned me off from it, it is just not for me I guess. To each their own, if someone uses it I wouldn't bash them or think any differently of them.

I met my guy online, we had both posted an ad; he had just moved from across the country and broken up with someone, he wanted to meet new people to hang out with and show him around. This was back when I was 18, him 19. We lived in the same city, talked for a few years before meeting one another, eventually dated for a short while before moving in together. We broke it off early onm stayed friends and eventually moved to different places, stopped talking for a year, reconnected almost a year ago and just started really dating recently. We've always liked one another and have known each other for 7 almost 8 years. We've already lived together before, next month I am moving into the duplex across from him.

I had a lot of growing to do before we were going to be compatable, but things are going good now. It's all about compatibility. I was lucky enough to find someone who was able to keep me in mind and allow me to better myself first, rather than viewing me as the same person I was a few years back.

I am very shy, and he's an outgoing sort of guy who has a lot of common sense, sort of teacherish, and is good at directing me in how to grow. (Hard to explain without sounding like he's a control freak, but not like that at all.) I am a very empathetic sort of person, sweet and girlish and we work well together. Took a while for us to realise that, glad we did!

I think online dating can work if you guys live close enough to see one another. Not being able to see a person and hold them is totally different from an online relationship. I think it is very much luck of the draw, some people are good and some are bad. You can pretend to be anything online, it took me a long time before I met up with him face to face.

I'm not normally an online dating sort of person either, never made a match or eharmony thing. I was just posting in CL platonics, looking for new friends, actually. No one ever really asks how we've met, we have a lot of the same friends, some of 'em are just kind of like... finally you guys are together.

Online Dating; I have a large opinion on this but it's not a bad one. I think that with webcams and the constant texting or videoing these days, it's easier to form a bond with another and it can be fun.

Unless He/She is an acquaintance of a friend of yours, in both cases they can lie about their lives... So for me would be the same if you have access to make videocalls and that.

I have online dated most of my life. It's easier to find people you have things in common with online while you're playing games with them then irl where it gets awkward and weird when you used to be semi antisocial. It's been very bad and it's been good. You find the weird panty collecting creepers, and you find the future husbands, like I did.

I had this friend and she met this guy online who lived countries away and they grew like really close. She'd already call him her boyfriend even though they had never met. Every time she mentioned him I felt like saying 'you haven't even met the guy how do you know you like him, he might be super annoyinggg/creepy/weird/awkward'. But I like to think I'm a nice person so I never did.

So to get to my point: I think the internet is a great way to meet new people, and amazing relationships can start online. But I don't think you can really judge someone by their online appearance only.
