All I do is train Health, strength and defense. You can get the auto trainers here that will buy the codestones etc so it's minimal effort.
I used Dubloons for the first 20 levels then moved on to Mystery Island. Once you reach Level 50, the abilities are alot more useful too.

If strapped for cash and patient - Dubloon training until you max out there.
If NP not a concern - Codestone training.

-Do kitchen quests; they don't always reward stats, but they're cheap and frequent enough that they do.
-You can train HP to 3x your level with Codestones, just stop ~20 HP before hitting the next Codestone training tier and catch up on your other stats to maximize time and money.
-Once your strength or defense are hitting 300, consider training level until you're lv.250 so you can Red Codestone train instead - faster and cheaper to do, say 1 Red/stat vs. 6+ Codestones/stat

you could always zap too. train your level first.
and zap like crazy do quests and such.
but always train your level to 250. then stop zapping and just red codestone train ur Attack and Defense.

Also, if you're feeling lucky, you can use a Bubbling Fungus (60k) to get either: +1,2,3,4,5 or -1,2,3,4,5 with the average gain being +2 strength good for some fun here and there haha

^ what they said, stat boosting is always fun. thats why I say train your level first so you dont run into speed bumps down the road
train level stat boost the df and strength
    rinse and repeat
