    You're overreacting.

Canada is significantly colder than Brazil and other countries (esp. the Province you're headed to), but you're not going to be flash frozen as soon as you step outside on a January day; 35m people wouldn't live here if it were that inhospitable and deadly.

Just bring clothes like jeans, sweatpants, sweaters, hoodies, zipups, boots (like Uggs, lol), and typical winter stuff like mitts/gloves, scarf, toque, and an urban wool coat or winter/ski jacket and you'll be fine. Pretty much ordinary long-sleeved clothes.

The brands are endless for such winter gear, but examples of jacket brands could be The North Face, Arc'Teryx, Mountain Hardwear, Burton, Columbia, Canada Goose, etc.

People don't normally wear thermals here unless they're competing in a winter sport or hiking up mountains, you might look weird if you do otherwise...

I'm not overreacting, believe me. I've been on Argentina, it was always positive temperatures, like 5C was possibly the LOWEST and I was FREEZING, I wasn't going out and I had to buy that heating air stuff that I don't know the name in english (but its like an air conditioner) to put even in the bathroom! And It will be like -28C when I get in Calgary, but the sensation is -40C. So I know I'll need this kind of clothes. Everybody who is already there on exchange told me so, also. But that is the only thing I'll buy in Brazil. Here in my city the only season that exists is summer. The coldest it can get is 25C in a coooold windy night and I'm already freezing.

The buildings in Canada are insulted and heated (I doubt most buildings in Argentina are); you'll be nice and toasty even when it's -50 outside.
Paying the heat bills will rack up, but if you live in public housing like at the school, you won't have to worry about such costs.

Hell, I'm in my draws and a t-shirt as I type this when it's -31 outside, because I jacked up the heat - I don't have to pay for it in my condo building.

    And...

Its called CLIMAcool and CLIMA(something) for heat. Under armor is the originators but Adidas and Nike and other brands have incorporated it.

Just buy a lot of sweaters and pants, a hat, gloves, scarf, coat, and some boots. You'll be fine!

Honestly you can go to any superstore to find thermal underwear.

Walmart, Target, Kmart, etc. There are a number of different fabrics you can buy too online, cotton/polyester/etc.
Just search thermal under, and buy hoodies/boots/scarves/etc like everyone else said.

ps i want to go to canadialand too.
