If you have a decent Battledome pet, battle one of the Maraquan opponents. You're bound to get a bunch of codestones every day, red ones too and they usually sell quite high. Completely legit and stressfree. Otherwise, enter the Art Gallery or Poetry contest, those give out nice prices (I've gotten a couple of Mystery Island Paint brushes back in the day, 4m each).
