So I'm a freshman in University-- today was my move in day and I was sooo excited... until my roommate didn't show up. At all.
I'm pretty shy so I thought making friends at school (a primarily commuter school, mind) would be a lot easier if I at least lived on campus. Plus they gave me a scholarship for it so it's basically free. But then they originally told me this one girl was going to be my roomie and we met up and she was REALLY cool and I was so excited-- until she told me that she wasn't living on campus and she had never signed up to do so. Then three days ago, they finally gave me the new one, a girl who I couldn't find on FB or anything. And now she doesn't show up. I tried to find the RAs, but they're nowhere to be found.
Kind of feeling like living here was all a mistake and freaking out a little.

There could just be circumstances preventing your new room mate from showing up on the first day. Try not to worry x)

Thats really weird that they would give you a roommate who apparently never signed up to live on campus. Are you worried about making friends, or having a roommate? If you're worried about friends, just walk up and down your hall, you're sure to meet a ton of cool people who are looking for the same! Your story about your roommate would be a good ice breaker too, and they would probably invite you to hang with them!
But if you're worried about your roommate, don't be.
I know people who have had their roommate move in a day or two after the "official" move in day for one reason or another. So don't freak out, maybe something came up!
The worst that could happen is that you end up not having a roommate, so you get all that extra room to yourself.. Push the beds together and make a super bed!!
Just give it some time. In the meantime, definitely get to know other people around you.
What a helpful reply... Pft!

Thanks @(you need an account to see links) & @(you need an account to see links). It turned out she's an exchange student and her flight got in today. So brings to the new problem of... she doesn't speak a single word of english... but that's more managable with someone who's here. Thanks. :X
