Is it true that you only need to use a proxy when logging in and logging out?

But as people have mentioned, with TNT cracking down and going on a freezing rampage recently I've been trying to play it safe and just keeping all my proxies on anyways.

People have done some tests that would point to 'yes', but there has been a few frozen pets(pounding/transferring) that shouldn't have raised any suspicion other than the IP when the pet was pounded . To be safer, I would always have your proxy on

I've not used Hotspot personally so I can't say for sure, but I assume that it probably does because it must try to give you the best connection based on your location and other factors, right? What I have tried before is CyberGhost VPN, and it works fine but yes it does change ips too.

I haven't heard anything negative about it , but you can also use something like FoxyProxy so it only affects that browser(and you can play on a different account and a different IP) ^_^

I say yes and no. Yes because if you do it often enough (like say the free proxies you use keep dying and so you keep switching frequently), it's bound to raise some flags to TNT. But also no because there are many older players on neopets who lead busy lives and move places to places, so they are bound to end up using the internet in a variety of environments such as school/university/public libraries/etc that would have them logging in and out of their accounts with different ips. The key is in moderation, just try not to do it so often.

I agree with this.
I only used them when logging in, and logging out for a while, as I heard thats the only time the IP got logged.
But now I wouldn't take any chances.

I used FoxyProxy for a little while and it worked well enough, but I got tired of continually switching proxy servers so I could jump between different accounts. I wanted a way that would allow me to play on different accounts using the same browser simultaneously, and there's actually a good guide (you need an account to see links)that lets you do exactly that. Maybe it might prove helpful to you^^

There are many methods to it, you really have to experiment for yourself because what might work best for some may not work well for others. But if the main that you're using is not tied to any other accounts that you also treat as mains (meaning that you use proxies for any other accounts that you cheat on), then that should be ok.
