Help me to pick a laptop. Asus reviews?

My current laptop is a bit broken and I just want a new one.

I have a budget of around $1200-1600 USD.

I was thinking of buy another Dell, they've always been awesome for me.

But this time they kind of failed to me. The graphics they include are shitty compared to the price and processor.

Intel HD Graphics 4400/4000. Really sucks lol

I was thinking of Dell Inspiron 15R with Core i7, it's touch but the graphics... ugh.
Other than that, I have no choice unless I want a 12" laptop, or I have a $2000 budget (Which no way I'm going to pay for a new laptop).

Also saw an Asus N56. It lacks of the awesome design of Dell and the touch add-on, but it ain't ugly and got an NVIDIA GeForce GT 630M, 2GB DDR3 VRAM and blu-ray reader. Obviously it's around $400 more expensive than Dell's.
However, I've never owned an Asus, or have heard if they're good or not.

I want to own this laptop at least for 6 more years (It's a lot of time and probably won't use it that many years, but there's the possibility so uhm).

Also if anyone else knows of a computer that might interest me, I'd really appreciate it xD!
I don't want an HP, I've heard their laptop sucks. Neither a Toshiba, but I might look at them, too...

Whatever you do, make sure you fully avoid and run away quickly if anyone even tries to offer you an Acer.

    ^ I second that.

With a $1200-1600 budget, you could just just about whatever you wanted.
I just got a new laptop a few months ago, I think it ended up being around $900 total.. and I love it.
It's a dell, i7, touchscreen, got tons of memory. I didn't really care much on the graphics, since I don't play LoL or anything like.

I had a Dell for years and never had any problem with it ever (until I spilled my coffee on it). If I were you, I'd honestly stick with one. They are great.

    I thought so but I can't find something I really like :/
I remember when I bought an older Dell, basically I was able to build it on my own. They'd let you pick how much RAM you wanted, how much space on HDD, which graphics, etc... But now, they just have 2-3 models of each one and that's it :/

I don't play that much. I don't even know why I want a powerful laptop, the most exigent game I'll play is StarCraft, most likely, as Diablo will be available on PS3 so I didn't buy it yet.

Yeah, all my computes have always been Dell.

The only one that gave me problems was this one. But I believe it was because my dog made it fall off the bed, wich is a bit large lol

    Where were you looking at?
When I was looking, I still had the option to add whatever processor, how much ram, etc etc.
And there are a ton of different models that I found.

The best advice is to not settle. Just be a little patient until you find exactly what you want!

-What size screen you're looking for?
-Need internal optical disc (DVD, Blu-Ray, etc.) drive or not?
    -Gonna be gaming heavy?
    -Touchscreen must?

(I don't think it's possible to find a hardcore gaming laptop + touchscreen at present. Gotta sacrifice one for the other to a degree.)

Asus is bomb. It's a quality company that produces reasonably priced powerhouse computers and peripherals for the average user (that knows about them).
Been around for a long time too and just starting to become mainstream in recent years, but still not to the fame of HPish.

Another brand like Asus is MSI.

Maybe cause you're on the USA.
On the mexican store, they just give me to pick between Inspiron, XPS or Alienware xD!

The matter is, I need a new laptop like now. This Dell I'm using has to be repaired, as constantly crashes out. It's the display x3

I'm looking for a 15.6" laptop, most likely, and DVD reader. Other than that, everything else is a plus.

I also have to say that sometimes I open photoshop and netbeans, when I have free time. I also used to enjoy playing StarCraft xD!

I'm 90% sure I'll end up buying the asus, as it's in stock and buying the dell would take 2-3 weeks before they'd give me it :C

Do you need it now for something like word processing, or is photoshop and whatnot a necessity?
If you can get by with a cheap netbook, I would grab one for ~$100 and wait for the Dell --or, at least, more time to look around ^_^
