Heads up, this will be long, so if you don't want to read it that's cool. I just haven't shared much of me personally here, and I like y'all a bit- so here's a story from my life.
~Story time~
My dad has always hated dogs, especially inside dogs, so when he out of the blue decided he wanted one- my mother and I jumped at the chance. Perfect Christmas surprise! Catch was, it had to be specifically a black and white lab/pit mix. For some god forsaken reason every single one we'd find would be gone immediately. Eventually after weeks of frustration I found an ad on Craigslist for pit/lab mix puppies and HOLY SHIT JESUS that had the "right" color. So I got my mom's approval, got in the truck, and started driving.
THREE HOURS of driving down into the boonies to be more specific.
You guys don't understand. This is South Carolina. The closer I got to my destination the more abandoned everything got. Once I hit Silent Hill territory I was pretty sure it was the end of me.
Seriously I made a point of counting- 24 minutes of not seeing another car on the road through the longest stretch."Yeah I'm just here to pick up the pup- OH DEAR GOD!"
SO RIGHT ANYWAYS. I drive through the old creepy abandoned highways and get to the turn for my destination- it's a dirt road. Into the woods.
The sun is setting at this point so after hesitating I decide that I'd have more a chance of surviving with some sunlight. A few creepier turns later I got to the place- a happy looking trailer full of people that didn't seem to be cannibals. The lady was super nice, let me play with all of the puppies, and let me take home mine for free.
THEN I'M DRIVING HOME ALL HAPPY WITH THIS PUPPY when my GPS gets possessed by Satan. Satan the GPS decides "Hey, it's high time y'all take this TINY. FUCKING. ABANDONED. DIRT. ROAD." I shit you not this thing so small that the truck could barely fit.
For SEVEN MILES I had to ride through this surrounded by NOTHING and DARKNESS and CERTAIN DEATH. Puppy threw up all over my boyfriend, GPS lost signal, radio went out, almost wrecked the truck. No bueno.
I'm rambling but basically we survived the trip, made it back home scared & covered in puppy puke, and surprised my dad.
He acted pissed. But he totally left THAT night and bought over 100 dollars in puppy stuff.
Sadly, when we took her to the vet we found out she was all sorts of sick and she had to endure quite a bit. Which makes me wonder if the other puppies ever found homes at all :/. BUT, it's been seven months Puppy became "Eve" (or Eevee/Eva/Little shit) and has been the best pet we've owned.
She was the best thing that happened to my dad- when he got cancer and had to go in to surgery his first question before going in was "Is my dog ok?" (she had just been operated) and when he woke up from the surgery "Did my dog do well?" Eve has brought him comfort and caring in a way I've never seen the old fart be.
Eevee is definitely a weird dog though, but that just makes her part of the family.
TL;DR
LOOK AT MY DAD'S DOG
^ She got stuck in the posts to the pool. I had to use an entire can of butter spray to get her out
The image made it look like this was going to be a Resident Evil story.
I'm surprised he asked about his dog before he asked about you.
Would read again /10.
He was more concerned for his dog than he was for even himself. We were just like "Dad, yo, you've got a tumor that's trying to kill you. Worry 'bout yourself man." I found out later why, sad long back story (that also explained his hatred for dogs & the specific color choice).
@(you need an account to see links) That is about the sweetest story I've ever read. I'm so happy for your dad and for Eve. :*
