What most likely happened is, there have been individuals with the power to UC pets, and they do so on old inactive shells. So that would explain why she doesn't even know it was there.

Out of curiosity, if the pc didn't go rabid every time there was a questionable pet, do you think there would be significantly more in circulation, or would tnt find them on their own?
