    Options when selling a pet?

Long story short I have some pets, but their somewhat known and I want to sell them. I can explain further in PM to trusted members, as I don't really want to risk myself.

willing to rep for an appropriate answer.

So long as you're willing to back the buyer if anyone asks any questions then I imagine it should all be sweet although the PC is full of idiots that might get involved!

Yeah, this. The person could put "Thanks for gifting me ____." and that should be fine if you are willing to confirm if anyone asks. The PC is ALWAYS suspicious though no matter how legit something looks.

Faking an adoption process will only bring more attention to the said pet imo. A simple "thanks for gifting me" might be less risky.

Agree with this so hard. Generally its better to keep it on a i'll-tell-you-if-you-ask basis

As a frequent PCer I can vouch for the fact that they're nosey little shits who can't leave anything alone. You'd be best off "gifting" them to people and making sure you're pretty willing to answer any questions with "Yes shut up I'm just kind."
