I would say League > Dota but it's a personal preference. League to me is more straight forward. Dota would take some time to get used to, but I'm sure it would also be fun if you got the hang of it.
League can't even recognize that I have my primary and secondary mouse buttons switched. This has gone unfixed for years and I've complained about it on their forums like thrice, and the only time I ever fire up League again is because I miss my waifus but the shoddy game engine ends up driving me away again.
Also, don't know if anyone here cares but Dota 2's community contribution potential is through the roof, and they just released an alpha build of a custom mode/map authoring tool. Seems like in the future they even plan to add a user friendly cosmetics design pipeline tool. As I'm in the early stage of making my own cosmetic set, this is very yes.
League is starting to really get stale since Riot's decision to orient it towards the late game, not to mention the endless nerfs with no consideration for using buffs to balance the game as well. Tbh, if it wasn't for the personalities, initial popularity and money, the game would be long abandoned for Dota 2.
