Gotta say though, the text starts to wash out against the background near the bottom, I thought I was starting suffer from glaucoma for a moment.
Maybe make the font colors higher contrast, or gradient them too as you get to the bottom?

Oh, I know. You could make the color gradient on the background a bit lighter (for #3 and #4), near the bottom - instead of the font color.
(you also forgot the second 't' in "button", for step #1,)
