Personally, I'm an "over" person.
A couple of weeks ago, my ex-roomie hired maid service and when they left, I saw they flipped it to "under".
I re-flipped it back to "over".

I'm at a loss for words.

I've only once tried to place the toilet paper on the "wrong" way, but my mother corrected me because she hates it when the end of the roll faces the wall. Nowadays I can't stand it, either - I don't like having to fumble around the back looking for the end when the person before me rips off too much.

Also, the ominous yellow stains that invariably result from people needing to pass their hands over the roll to look for where the end is. You need to tear away a dozen or so layers just to get rid of the amount that soaked through, it's terrible. Think of the trees

I once saw a roll placed the wrong way at my friend's house in middle school and there was this really creepy yellow stain along the side of the roll, so I put two and two together. I was too nice to point it out to them, of course - but hey. You live and you learn.
