So an account goes unreg right? The unreg email is then created by someone else who is not the owner. But the account was owned by a member of the forum. Apparently it's against forum rules to take the account because it's the property of a forum goer. However, in the past @(you need an account to see links) has said "Hack or Be Hacked" I would assume this should apply here. This occurred only through neopets, and had the account not belonged to a member here, then it would have been fine. Frankly, since the user who discovered this and is telling her friend about it, I think that is blatant favoritism and exploitation of knowledge. If an account goes unreg, it's fair for the taking. So either the user who found out and told her friend is to blame, or @(you need an account to see links) needs to consider revising his policy. Thoughts?

I think that whoever gets the accounts has the right to own it, but if the "hacker" is nice enough not to take it, they should get some form of retribution.

If it comes to light that the owner is a high standing member of our forum community, and you're told about this, why are they allowed to lose their account? Why can you literally say "fuck them, I found it" and that member is out of their personal account. I can understand if you didn't know it was their account. But if you're told, and it's someone pretty far up in our community, why would you continue to take their account?
I have had this happen a few times.. both people getting my stuff and me getting other peoples.
If it was me, I would like for them to not take all my stuffs knowing it was mine, so I give people the same benefit of the doubt.
Yes it is "hack of be hacked", but there is also honor amongst thieves.
But if I had a nice ass main or something and somebody saved me from having it jacked, then I would probably toss them a little something for their kindness. I believe in karma.
What's my definition of success?
Creating something no one else can
Being brave enough to dream big
Grindin' when you're told to just quit
Giving more when you got nothin' left

It comes down to morals. It's someone's account that you don't know and it's worth $500. Fine, I'll take $500.
Now it's someone's account that you do know. Do you take the $500 account still? Technically, you did not scam someone on clraik, you scammer on neopets, which is allowed. But it's dick of you to steal something of someone who you know.
Again, as I stated, if you didn't know who's account it was, you're not accountable. But if I told you who's account it was, and you said fuck it, I'm going to steal it anyway, then that's a different story. You are knowingly stealing from another forum member.

I don't know the user who owned the account. I've had neopets users nm me and stuff after i've taken their account. I, like everyone else, obviously don't give it back.
Also, shouldn't something about morals be my decission? The user who threatened me should not then put the decision in their hands. I approached the user to buy the birthday to gain access, but instead, she abused the information I had given her and fucked me out of $500. I think that is a far more bannable offense than something that might be morally injust.

It occurred on neopets. I'm not held responsible for that. I approached you for a birthday crack and instead of just saying no because you know the user, you told me that you were going to throw me under the bus and tell the original user. That is not any different than telling a user on neopets that someone has their account. Also, that should be considered theft from a fellow forumgoer as well, because I have email access and that is now my property. By telling the owner of the account, you ruin the value of my email access therefore ruining the money i now can have. That is just as much theft.

You did not have all the information from the account that you needed to get inside. Now you have none of the information, but I used my personal stock to give you a replacement account of equal value so that you didn't steal an account from a fellow forum goer who doesn't have nearly as much as we do.
As interesting as this is to watch go down, I think this should be handled through PMs or the disputes forum.
