    Cats or Dogs?

Of course we're all going to be biased as to what we have, so it's all a matter of how you present your argument. Let's see which one wins!

I've always been more of a dog person, before I even had a dog I liked dogs more. From my experiences, all the dogs I've ever been around have been much more friendly than cats are. My dog will lay with me for hours and if I'm upset or in a bad mood my dog knows and he'll come and sit with me. I feel like dogs are just more human-like than cats are, if that makes any sense. Cats seem to like to be alone more and I just don't like that, I love caring for my dog and brushing him and walking him and napping with him but I've never really met a cat that would rather spend time with its owner rather than alone. But that's just my experience with cats, I'm sure there are plenty out there who are more inclined to not sit alone all day

    !!!!!
I love dogs. My 2 siblings and I each have one. Mine is an chihuahua-italian greyhound mix named Anna. So a chihuahua head on an IG body. ivory with beige. She runs so fast and beautifully! So agile, with a noble stance, long legged. Very feminine, her pound name was Belle. I remember I went to the pound and she was in her cage resting gracefully like how the Sphinx statue is. And I saw her and took her. She is so loyal to me, she follows me everywhere, i'll be sitting at my desk and i'll look to my bed and she's watching me. And when I get home, I lie down because she likes to squirm all over me, I tell her "come, my love! smother me with love!" She also puts her paws on my thigh and trembles and makes noises to get on my lap when i'm sitting. When I tell her "it's time for bed!" and I lift my comforter she goes right under. At times she has this subtle smile. We cuddle together and she rests her head on my neck. She is my eternal love.

    That is my argument.

Jules - I agree completely, it's much easier to be around dogs because they are so human-like!

Demetri - The majority of my family is allergic as well, and lap dogs for the win!

Miri - You just perfectly described my two Chihuahuas. It's amazing how each breed has their own personality!

I like both, but I'm more of a cat person because they require less care and I can live a busier life without having to compromise too much. Cats can be less friendly than dogs and visa versa, it all depends on how well you are able to interpret their behaviour in order to gain their trust.

I have three cats, each with a varied personality.

The first, Krista, is my little baby girl. I love her to death. We have meowing conversations with one another. She's like a shadow that follows me everywhere, even into my bathroom. She likes to sit on the sink counter while I take a shower. Krista has separation anxiety and races around the room when I am getting ready to go somewhere because she's unbelievably bonded to me.
Krista sleeps in my bed every night, under the covers. I wrap my arms around her and we spoon. She licks my face, and goes to sleep. She's the sort of cat that will get along with any other pet, and enjoys meeting new people. I can pick her up on her back, and she reaches out to me with her paws to grab my face and lick my nose or smell my eyeball.
Not shy at all. A great little friend! Just like a dog, really.

My second cat, Blanca is also very social. She was rescued from hoarders as a kitten and nearly died. She's a bit shyer around new people, doesn't like to be held, but loves being brushed, will follow me all over the house and is just all around adorable. She's really unique looking, all whie with one blue and one green eye.

My third cat, Alice, is a petite 6 pound cat who's feral mum was run over, and the siblings died. I got her when she was only 3 weeks old. For a month I slept on the floor in my room with a bunch of blankets, but a heating pad under a warm donut shaped petbed for the kitten, fed her every 30 mins w/ fresh wet food and kitten milk replacement. Taught her to use the catbox. She was very feisty and not well socialised, so that's why we got Blanca. After Alice was old enough, we put both kittens in my mom's office with a heater to keep them warm. Alice is a lot shyer than my other cats, hates to be picked up, but loves to sit in my lap and watch T.V.

I love my dogs, too. I've had them for a loooong time, especially my little Sheltie/Pom mix, Chelsea. She's so smart, pretty much trained herself. She's more of a cat like dog. Friendly and sweet, but non destructive, doesn't bark too much. Very friendly to new people.

I wish this poll had the option for both, but I chose cats because I figure they wouldn't get as many votes.

They're two completely different species of animal, so it's hard to compare them. Both have good traits and are wonderful little companions. :3

I admit to being too lazy to take care of a dog. They need more attention!

I've personally come across lots of friendly cats. They won't do tricks for ya but they are still soft and cute :3
