    Metaphors +rep!

    Metaphors

I'm a riddle in nine syllables.
    An elephant, a ponderous house,
A melon strolling on two tendrils.
O red fruit, ivory, fine timbers!
This loaf's big with its yeasty rising.
Money's new-minted in this fat purse.
    I'm a means, a stage, a cow in calf.
I've eaten a bag of green apples,
Boarded the train there's no getting off.

I'm writing an analysis of this poem for an essay, and I want to get your guy's interpretation on what it stands for.

    NO GOOGLING, YOU CHEATERS.

An overall theme + line by line analysis (doesn't have to be in depth) gets you rep!

    ^ This part clearly sounds like a pregnancy to me. Meaning of 9 months, the size of her pregnant belly is compared to an elephant/ponderous house and the melon strolling on two tendrils could most likely mean 2 babies, but I have no idea if it would fit the rest. ;o;

I have studied poems last semester and god, some people could just get clearly to point. /cough

Good luck figuring out the rest

Nine syllables. Nine months. I concur. Pregnancy.

Two tendrils is two legs, not two babies.

This loaf's big with its yeasty rising.
Money's new-minted in this fat purse.

^ Both are relating to the creation. Yeast rising, new-minted.
Yeast rising: A bun in the oven?

Anyway the train shit, I'm not sure I get, but you can't undo pregnancy.

This sounds like my "abstract poetry" class from college. I took it because I can easily make up garbage and let everyone in class figure out what i wrote while i was blackout drunk. Literally, never understood the purpose for it. Good luck and sorry i'm not going to help because just reading that gave me headache.

thank you both for the help

I def agree with you all on those, I'm super confused about:

I've eaten a bag of green apples.

Erm...garden of eden....God punished Eve with bringing suffering on all women during childbirth?

    Best I got, lol, thoughts?

I have an analysis. Not sure if it's right though, so you probably wouldn't want to hear it,

I would concur with that as well. Red fruit could be like growing a fruit. And the timber could be like housing I suppose. The apples definitely had me thinking of Eve, but I don't know that story well.
