So you got yourself a shiny new pet of the unconverted sort?
That you definitely didn't adopt from the pound, and most certainly bought.
Good for you; whether it be a dream pet or trading fodder, you have one.
Now let's talk about what to do now.
THE DO NOT
DO NOT immediately go onto the boards, waving around your shiny new toy.
(If you don't get anything out of this guide, at least be aware of this one)
The guilty dog barks first.
Honestly, nobody gives a damn about how you got your pet, unless you bring it up for no reason.
That is what solely makes you look suspicious. Nobody question'd how you got it, until you made them
We all know how the PC likes to pretend they are Sherlock Holmes, so don't feed into it.
How to avoid this?
Literally, just don't do it. It's unnecessary attention.
If it's a dream pet
, you don't have to go around bragging about it.
It's yours, it's your dream pet, go treat it as such instead of wasting time impressing people you give no shits about.
Get to work on it's petpage, or lookup, etc.
If it's trading fodder
, it is still recommended to lay low for a few weeks, AT LEAST.
Perhaps don't make your own boards for a while, but neomail your offer to other people who may be interested in trading.
, make sure the account that the pet is sitting on LOOKS LEGIT if you're planning on offering it to trade.
If your main account is a female from Germany, and the account that the pet is on is a male from Canada.. what the hell, kid? Get your shit together.
Also, a lot of people recommend not going to the boards AT ALL until the pet has an updated cache. *
Literally disperses any sort of questioning that you could possibly get.
* = Don't know what a cache is? Let's look at our next section.
What is a cache?
A cache is a saved snapshot of a page that google takes.
It is not always up to date, and can save information that was on that page before the current date.
I will use my frozen account/pet as an example, though I still blocked out the names.
My account was frozen back in December, and this is the current cache on google if I search my pet's name.
Notice the date? It's different from the current date.
The time for caches to update vary, so be sure to check it often if you're waiting for the cache to clear.
How to check a cache?
Google the pet's name/account name/whatever you're searching for, and the pet usually shows up like so:
I highlighted the arrows >> that you need to hover over. Once you hover, this will pop up.
And you of course click on cache, and it brings up the first image I showed you, with the date and all.
Why does the PC jerk off to caches?
Caches usually show the previous owner, and whether or not it was taken off an account, etc.
People like to wait until the cache updates to the current account that the neopet is on so as to not rise suspicion.
(ie. the cache being "cleared")
DO NOT keep the pet on a new account.
A high-end UC or even mid UC looks VERY suspicious on an account that's six months old.
Or even ten months old. I myself would even still question a three year old account.
The older, the better; especially when it comes to higher-end pets.
DO NOT claim adoption via pound.
If anyone happens to actually ask how you got the pet, at least DO NOT use the fragile excuse of "I found it in the pound."
The PC investigates and is shoved up pound_release's asshole too often and they will find out that you didn't adopt it.
- My friend IRL adopted it out to me because s/he doesn't play that much anymore.
- My friend adopted it out to me to help me trade for my dream pet.
are much more believable than amazingly lucky pound catches.
TO FURTHER PROVIDE EVIDENCE
, you can even transfer the pet from one account to another,
take a screenshot of you "adopting the pet" via transfer,
mark out the account name like everyone does,
and people won't even question the "my friend" excuse either.
(I obviously changed the name of the pet + added in the pet image, it was originally a draik lawls)
* This works for some pets, but if you have an entire collection of UC P/R/D/K, I wouldn't recommend this.
Though, PC is too naive and won't really question you if you own that many nice things.
They'll just worship the ground (or computer chair) you stand (sit) upon.
Enjoy your pet.
Love your little collection of pixels forever and ever.
Until TNT crushes your hopes and dreams.
Following this guide will not completely secure your pet & is not responsible for what happens.
These are merely a few personal tips that people neglect very fiercely.
It is your pet and you are of course allowed to do what you please with it.
Even if that includes getting frozen shortly after.
Nobody likes wasting money though, so I hope this helped a little.
Have fun with your UC and clraik on!
