I use Avast!, IMO it's one of the best free Antivirus programs available. Been using it for over 5 years now.

Paid used to be NOD32, but competition has caught up these past couple years, so I'm not sure about that any more.

AVG used to be average (still always better than Symantec + McAfee), but they've stepped up their game too recently. So no, it's not bad that you have AVG.
Not the best, but not bad.

You can check out real-testing here:

(you need an account to see links)

And click the tab "VB100" for other results too, if you're curious.

But I wouldn't take too much of it to heart, they seem to be slapping all antivirius programs with a simple pass/fail now, instead of #s and ranking like they used to.
^And a lot of brands don't report to every test, as shown in there.

Thanks as usual, @(you need an account to see links)!

I've been looking for a new antivirus since my free trial with HitManPro ran out.

I use microsoft security essentials as my main firewall/antivirus lol nub status. it's free though. I also use malwarebytes for occasional scans and spybot for adware and ccleaner for registry stuff ^^

I use the paid MalwareBytes (but the free is good too for scans), and Microsoft Security Essentials. Kaspersky is good too though, as well as Spybot

AVG is junk. ESET/NOD32 is still my preferred AV/Firewall combo. Had too many false positives with Avast imo.
