So my town was devestated by hurricane Sandy so our mayor has this brilliant idea..

to build a fucking PLAYGROUND. How in the fuck is a playground supposed to help this town?? Why is our money going to bullshit instead of helping people (like me) who are still homeless or have no food.. I am so furious! I wish there was something I could do about it >

am I the only one who thnks this is so fucking unfair?

Wow, sorry to hear about that. it's absolutely ridiculous how these people can even get into a seat of power with the dimwitted minds. Shouldn't they be dedicating their resources to helping the residents in their own homes rather than build something trivial like that?

I'm sure there's something happening behind that Playground project. I bet you it will cost a few million for it - with a large percentage going into the Mayor's pockets.

From an outsiders viewpoint, I can see why they would build a playground.
If you have a playground, it gives kids and families something to do together.. gives them a piece of what they used to have.
Once families start to feel comfortable, it builds a sense of community. Once there is a sense of community, people can slowly begin to get their lives back and get things back to how they used to be.
So I think the playground is more of a symbolic gesture rather than a slap in the face.

@(you need an account to see links) - I know what you mean but a big part of my I am so mad is because we have 2 shelters full of people here, and they're running out of food and resources. The shelter closes May 1st and these people all have nowhere to go.. how can they even THINK about something this frivolous when there are plenty of children who, if asked, i'm sure they would rather a home. Not only that, but there is already four playgrounds in this town, and it's only 4 square miles. I went to the town meeting but never got a chance to speak. I'm not the only person upset about this, but no one will speak up it's annoying. I lost so much faith in my mayor now. The playground is supposed to be in honor of the kids who died in the Sandy Hook shooting, and don't get me wrong, it's not that I don't care about them, it's just that they're gone and there are so many kids in this town in need.

OH I definitely understand your frustration, don't get me wrong. I was just trying to maybe look at it from another angle.
If your town is only 4 square miles, what would you want the mayor to do for the people? It doesn't sound like the town has a big enough budget to rebuild homes?

There was supposed to be a bunch of relief money sent out to hurricane sandy afflicted areas. But I was reading somewhere that like...$700 million went "missing".. or didn't go to where it was supposed to go. Big surprise there. D:

I know, its crazy. I only saw 7,000 dollars of that money, and I was supposed to pay a security deposit on a new home AND make a home out of that. Furniture, clothes, everything. That storm ruined my life. You should see the pictures of my house.

Okay, i'll do it. I'll play devil's advocate here. I'm sort of tired of seeing you complain about sandy. I know it tore apart your house and you were left with not much of anything, but sitting on ck complaining about it isn't going to take you very far. I remember a few days after the storm you tried to buy stuff from me because you saw neo as an outlet, i refused to sell because i felt you ould use the money to rebuild your real life. Honestly, i understand. It was hard, but you're not going to improve your situation by spending countless hours a day on neopets cheating forum. I'm not telling you to leave or anything. I'm just saying that I think a better use of time would be actively working to fix your situation. Life's not fair and the fact that your town doesn't have the funds to rebuild every house in it is proof of that. Call me a dick or whatever, but I have your best interest in mind when i say that you should start working to figure something out.

@(you need an account to see links) Wow that is incredibly rude.. I really don't even know what to say how can you say that to anyone? Thats like saying "oh my god your grandma died four months ago get over it already.." this is obviously something that I am still hurt by alot and the fact that you are "tired of hearing it" is irrelevant. That is so unbelievably rude. How about I take your house then? You can just move out and give it to me since obviously it wouldn't matter to you to lose everything.

Way to ruin my whole fucking day for no reason.
